Setting up and using installer codes to sign in common area phones
An installer code lets an installer sign in a common area phone without needing the personal identification number (PIN) of a common area. This makes it easier to deploy large numbers of physical phones because the installer doesn't need to match each device's media access control (MAC) address to a specific extension before installation. Instead, the installer can take any unassigned phone, connect it to the network, enter a common area extension, and enter the installer code to complete the sign-in.
This feature is especially useful when you're deploying a large number of devices, such as multiple pallets of phones, to common area extensions. Instead of matching MAC addresses to a list of recipients, installers can use a single installer code across every device at the site.

How to sign in a common area phone with an installer code
Once you have an installer code and a list of common area extensions, you can sign in an unassigned device as follows:
- Unbox the device and connect it to the network.
The device automatically applies the appropriate firmware and shows up under Phones & Devices, in the Unassigned tab, in the Zoom web portal. - On the device, do one of the following:
- Press the Sign in button, usually located in the lower-left corner of the screen.
- Dial *90.
- Enter the extension number of the common area profile you want to assign to this device, followed by the # key.
- When prompted for a PIN, enter the installer code followed by the # key.
The device will authenticate and automatically configure itself with the extension, user template, and settings of the selected common area profile.
Note: Repeat this process for each device at the site. You can use the same installer code across multiple devices until it expires.
