Configuring Zoom apps for Zoom Room controllers


Administrators can install and configure third party apps for Room Controls. Once configured, these apps appear on the room controls interface of the Zoom Rooms controller. Anyone in the Zoom Room can use the app to manage room controls (for lights, shades, etc) while in or out of a meeting.

How to add the Room Control app to your account

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an administrator.
  2. Click Room Management, then click Zoom Rooms.
  3. Select a location, floor, or room in the hierarchy, then click Location Settings, Floor Settings or Edit.
  4. Click the Zoom Apps tab, then click Room Control Apps on the left.
  5. Click + Add App.
    You will be redirected to the Marketplace to choose and add the app.
  6. Select your app and follow the screens to add it to your user account. Zoom redirects you back to the Zoom Apps management page for your Zoom Rooms.
  7. Ensure the toggle switch to the app is enabled.

How to configure the Room Controls app for your Zoom Room

Once an administrator has added the app for your account, you can configure it. 

Note: iOS does not support allowing unverified connections due to system restrictions. Unverified connections are only permissible on Android and Windows Zoom Room Controllers.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Room Management, then Zoom Rooms.
  3. Click Edit next to the room you want to configure the app for. 
  4. Click the Zoom Apps tab, then click Room Control Apps on the left.
  5. Select Configure App and choose the authorization credentials method that was set up for your app.
  6. Click Save.

How to enable the Room Controls app

Once the app has been configured for your room, you can enable it. 

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal
  2. Click Account Settings, then click the Zoom Apps tab.
  3. Ensure that the Zoom Apps Quick Launch Button setting is enabled. 
    Note: If you need to enable the setting then you will also need to restart your room controller for the change to take effect. 
  4. Click Room Management, then Zoom Rooms.
  5. Click Edit next to the room you want to enable the app for. 
  6. Click Devices on the left, then click the toggle next to Enable Room Controls.
    Your app is displayed under the setting.
  7. Sign in to your Zoom Room Controller and go to the Room Controls tab.
    The tab will display your Room Controls app.
