Using Azure DevOps with Zoom Whiteboard


The Azure DevOps integration enables users to sync stories and tasks with Zoom Whiteboard. With this feature, users can effortlessly access and update work items from Azure boards directly within the whiteboard, eliminating the need to switch between platforms to manage work items.

How to install the Azure DevOps from the Zoom Marketplace

If your admin has installed the Azure DevOps app, the app will automatically be installed and available to you in the client.

  1. Create or open a whiteboard.
  2. In the toolbar on the left side of the screen, click the More Tools icon  .
  3. Click Card, then Import Azure issues.
  4. Click Zoom Marketplace.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Confirm the permissions the app requires, and then choose Allow.
    After installing the app from the Zoom Marketplace, you will be redirected to the Connect to Azure DevOps page.
  7. Configure the Application Link.
  8. Enter your company’s Azure DevOps domain, and then click Connect.
    You will be redirected to Azure DevOps to confirm the connection. Once complete, you and your users will be able to configure your own notifications/subscriptions.

How to connect your Azure DevOps account in Zoom Whiteboard

  1. Create or open a whiteboard.
  2. In the toolbar on the left side of the screen, click the More Tools icon  .
  3. Click Card, then Import Azure Issues.
  4. In the Import Azure Issues as Cards dialog box, click Log into Azure DevOps Cloud.
  5. Select an Azure DevOps project and then click Connect.
    A new tab will open.
  6. Click Connect.
  7. Click Allow to grant Azure app read and write access to your data.
  8. Click Confirm.
    A success message will appear. In your whiteboard canvas, you will see the Select Issues dialog box where you can import the Azure issues.

How to create an Azure issue from Zoom Whiteboard

Follow the steps below to create an Azure issue from the Zoom Whiteboard.

  1. Create or open a whiteboard.
  2. In the toolbar on the left side of the screen, click the More Tools icon  .
  3. Click Card, then Import Azure Issues.
  4. At the top of the Select Issues pop-up window, click New Issue.
  5. Fill out the required fields to create an Azure issue:
    • Title: This is a brief, descriptive name or heading for the issue. It typically summarizes the main topic or problem.
    • Project: This field specifies the project or initiative to which the issue belongs. It helps categorize and organize issues based on their association with specific projects.
    • Iteration: An iteration refers to a specific time frame or cycle within a project. It is often used to plan and track work over a defined period, such as a sprint or release.
    • Description: The description field provides a detailed explanation or account of the issue. It should include relevant information, context, and any necessary details for understanding and addressing the problem or task.
  6. Provide information on the right-side panel:
    • Assign a color code for the Azure issue.
    • Search for an assignee.
    • Enter a due date.
  7. Click Done.

How to import Azure issues

Follow the steps below to import Azure DevOps issues to the Zoom Whiteboard.

  1. Create or open a whiteboard.
  2. In the toolbar on the left side of the screen, click the More Tools icon  .
  3. Click Card, then Import Azure Issues.
  4. Customize the associated settings.
  5. Click Save.
  6. In the Select Issues pop-up window, click the check box next to the Azure DevOps issue you want to import. You can also select and import multiple issues by clicking multiple check boxes.
  7. Click Import.
    Azure DevOps issues will be imported to the whiteboard as Azure DevOps cards.

Azure DevOps import settings

Project: Choose a specific workspace where a team or group of users collaborate on a set of related tasks, issues, or initiatives.

Import Fields: Select which fields from the source data are imported into Azure DevOps, tailoring the import to your specific needs.

How to add a new Azure card

Follow the steps below to create a new Azure card on the Zoom Whiteboard.

  1. Create or open a whiteboard.
  2. In the toolbar on the left side of the screen, click the More Tools icon  .
  3. Click Card, then New Azure Card.
  4. Fill out the required fields for the Azure DevOps card.
  5. Click Done.

How to manage an Azure card

Follow the steps below to edit an Azure card created or imported from Azure DevOps to the Zoom Whiteboard.

  1. Create or open a whiteboard.
  2. Add a new Azure card or import Azure issues.
  3. Click the Azure card to open the selection toolbar. In the toolbar, you can select from the following options:
    • Click the Expand icon  to view and edit issue details including summary, project type, priority, and description.
      On the right side, you will see other Azure DevOps details such as the color code, assignee, due date, and status.
    • Click the Linkout icon  to open the issue in Azure DevOps.
    • Click the Color icon  to visually group related issues.
    • Click the Lock icon  to prevent other users from modifying the Azure card details.
    • Click the ellipses icon  to perform the following actions:
      • Copy: Copy the selected card.
      • Copy as image: Copy the selected card as an image which can then be shared or pasted into applications that support images.
      • Paste: Place the copied card somewhere else on the whiteboard.
      • Duplicate: Make an exact copy of the selected card.
      • Copy Link to Object: Copy the hyperlink or URL of a selected card which can then be shared or pasted elsewhere.
      • Bring to Front: Put the selected card on the top layer.
      • Send to back: Put the selected card on the bottom layer.
      • Bring Forward: Move the selected card up one layer.
      • Send Backward: Move the selected card back one layer.
      • Add Comment: Leave a comment on the selected card.
      • Save as Template: Save the selected card as a template.
      • Info: Shows the creator and last editor of the selected card.
      • Lock: Lock card to prevent other users with edit access from accidentally modifying the content.
      • Delete: Remove the selected card.
        Note: You can also right-click on the Azure DevOps card to perform the actions above.
