Custom emojis allow your users to express themselves in more ways than the standard emoji suite provides. While emojis are enabled by default, admins can disable this feature or control who can upload emojis in account settings.

How to enable or disable custom emojis for Chat

Enable or disable custom emojis for the entire account

This setting allows account owners or admins to enable or disable Chat custom emojis for all users in the account.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile picture or initials, then click Admin Center.
  3. In the side menu, click Settings .
  4. Click Chat.
  5. Under Sharing, click the Chat emojis toggle to enable or disable it.
  6. If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
  7. (Optional) To prevent all users in your account from changing this setting, click the lock icon , and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

Note: Uploaded custom emojis are available for all users, not just the user that uploaded the custom emoji.

Enable or disable custom emojis for a group of users

This setting allows account owners or admins to enable or disable [feature] for a specific group of users. Changes apply only to users in the selected group.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit groups.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile picture or initials, then click Admin Center.
  3. In the side menu, click Users .
  4. Click Groups.
  5. Click the applicable group name from the list.
  6. In the General configuration section, click Edit product settings.
  7. Click the Zoom Chat tab.
  8. Under Sharing, click the Chat emojis toggle to enable or disable it.
  9. If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
    Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the account level and must be changed at that level.
  10. (Optional) To prevent all users in the group from changing this setting, click the lock icon , and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

How to manage uploaded custom emojis

Admins can view all custom emojis uploaded by their users. Here they can see who uploaded the emoji, the emoji name, the emoji image, and when it was uploaded.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile picture or initials, then click Admin Center.
  3. In the side menu, click Settings .
  4. Click General.
  5. Under General, locate the Custom emojis setting.
  6. Click Manage Custom Emojis.
    All uploaded emojis will be listed, with the emoji’s name, the emoji image, the uploader’s name, and the date added shown for each emoji.
  7. (Optional) Click Delete to remove that custom emoji from your organization’s account.
    Note: Depending on who has permission to upload custom emojis, deleted emojis may be able to be re-uploaded.
