Quick start guide for Zoom Clips

Zoom Clips offers a convenient solution for capturing your video and screen content, allowing you to share the recordings with others effortlessly and quickly. Viewers can comment and react to your clips to keep the conversation going. Use this quick start guide to learn how to create clips, access your clip library, manage clips, and more.

Clips is enabled by default, but account owners and admins can disable Clips in the Zoom web portal for users on their account. Other settings, such as comment visibility, email notifications, and default sharing options, are also available in the Zoom web portal. How to record a Zoom Clip

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
  2. Click the Clips tab.
    Note: If Clips is not listed on the top menu, you may need to click the More menu, then click Clips.
  3. Click New clip.
  4. (Optional) In the Record new clip window, adjust recording settings as needed.
    As you adjust settings, the clip preview will change based on your choices.
    • Choose what is recorded:
      • Screenshare and video : Your computer screen and your video at the same time. Your computer screen will be selected by default for screen share, but you can click Desktop 1 in the clip thumbnail to choose from basic or advanced sharing options.
      • Screenshare only : Your computer screen only. Your computer screen will be selected by default for screen share, but you can click Desktop 1 in the clip thumbnail to choose from basic or advanced sharing options.
      • Video only : Your camera video without your computer screen.
    • Edit the title of your clip. By default, it's your name and the current date.
    • Audio icon : Choose the audio source.
    • Video icon : Choose the video source.
    • Display icon : Choose the resolution of the final recording, including Auto (1080p), 1080p, 720p, or 360p (360p is only available for Video only clips).
    • Click the Advanced settings drop-down menu to adjust more settings, such as virtual background, layout and wallpaper, noise suppression, and more. Available options depend on what you've chosen to record, such as video only. 
  5. Click Start recording .
    A countdown timer will start before the recording begins, then a floating toolbar will appear with a clock that displays the length of the recording and additional tools.
  6. (Optional) While recording, use any of the tools in the floating toolbar as needed:
    • Mute / Unmute : Mute or unmute your audio.
    • Start video / Stop video : Start or stop your camera.
    • Annotation : Add text, draw, stamp, or spotlight.
    • Share : Change what screen or window you want to share.
    • Pause / Resume : Pause and resume your recording.
    • Discard : Discard what you've recorded so far.
    • Restart : Restart the recording.
  7. To finish recording, click Stop.
    Your clip will be displayed and will be added to your list of clips.
  8. When your clip is displayed, you can make adjustments as needed, such as trim it, share, download, or coy the link, and edit basic information. 

Android | iOS

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. Tap the More icon , then tap Clips.
  3. Tap New clip.
  4. (Optional) Adjust recording settings as needed. As you adjust settings, the clip preview will change based on your choices.
    • Choose what is recorded:
      • Video only: Your camera video without your mobile device screen.
      • Screenshare and video: Your mobile device screen and your video at the same time.
      • Screenshare only: Your mobile device screen only. 
        Note: If you choose any option with screenshare, you can choose if you want to share device audio as well. 
    • Tap the Image icon to change your background.
  5. To start recording, tap the Recording icon .
    Notes:
    • If you chose to record any option that includes screenshare, follow the on-screen instructions to start the broadcast, which records everything on your mobile device screen.
    • If you chose to record Video only, a countdown timer will start before the recording begins.
  6. (Optional) While recording, use any of the tools in the toolbar as needed. Some options may not be available depending on what you chose to record.
    • Mute / Unmute : Mute or unmute your audio.
    • Start video / Stop video : Start or stop your camera.
    • Pause / Resume / Cancel : Pause, resume, or cancel the recording.
  7. To finish recording, tap Finish.
    Your clip will be displayed, and will be added to your list of clips.
  8. When your clip is displayed, you can make adjustments as needed, such as share the clip, copy the link, and edit basic information.

How to access your clips

After creating a clip, you can access it from the clip library in the Zoom web portal or Zoom app and share it with others.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
  2. Click the Clips tab.
    By default, all clips are shown.
  3. On the left, click the My clips, My playlists, Shared with me, Starred, or Trash tab to view the relevant clips.

Access deleted clips

After you delete a clip, it will be accessible in the Trash tab for 30 days from the date it was deleted, then it will be permanently deleted unless it’s restored.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
  2. Click the Clips tab.
  3. On the left, click the Trash tab.
    A list of your deleted clips will be displayed. Each clip will show when it will be permanently deleted.
  4. (Optional) Below a clip thumbnail, click the More icon , then select one of the following:
    • Restore: Retrieve the clip from the trash.
    • Delete: Permanently delete the clip.
  5. (Optional) In the top-right corner, click Empty Trash to permanently delete all the clips in the trash at once. Click Empty to confirm.

Android | iOS

  2. Tap the More icon , then tap Clips.

How to manage your clips

You can search, share, and manage your clips from the Zoom app or the Zoom web portal.

Note: Some options listed may not be available on the Zoom mobile app.

Search for a clip

Search for clips by name or use filters to locate them. You can also use keywords or phrases to locate and navigate directly to relevant moments within a clip's transcript. When viewing the list of clips, you will see the name of the clip, clip owner, and clip creation date.

  1. Access your clips.
  2. (Optional) To filter your search, do any of the following:

Share a clip

  1. Access your clips and locate the clip you want to share.
  2. Near the clip thumbnail, click one of the following share options:

Quick actions for clips

In your clip library on the desktop app, you can star your favorite or most important clips, download a clip, rename a clip, change a clip’s thumbnail, add a clip to a playlist, delete a clip, and more.

  1. Access your clips.
  2. When viewing your clip library, you can take any of the following quick actions on a clip:

Edit a clip

  1. Access your clips and locate the clip you want to edit.
  2. Click on the clip.
  3. On the clip itself, click any of the following icons.
    Note: Some options may not be available on mobile.
  4. (Optional) Click an emoji to add a reaction at a specific time in the clip.
  5. (Optional) In the panel to the right of the clip (or below the clip if viewing on the mobile app), click the Edit tab, and do any of the following:

Comment on a clip or view comments

Note: Guest users cannot leave comments on Zoom Clips recordings. They are required to sign in to their account before they can post comments.

  1. Access your clips and locate the clip you want to add or view comments for.
  2. Click on the clip.
  3. Click the Comments tab.
  4. (Optional) Add a comment at a specific time within the clip.
  5. (Optional) View existing comments and do the following:

View clip statistics

Statistics are only visible with Zoom Clips Plus.

  1. Access your clips and locate the clip you want to view statistics for.
  2. Click on the clip.
  3. Click the Statistics tab.
    Metrics for the clip will be displayed.
  4. (Optional) Select a start and end date to filter metrics by a specific time period.
  5. View the following metrics:
