Zoom Clips offers a convenient solution for capturing both your video and screen content, allowing you to share the recordings with others effortlessly and quickly. Recipients comment and react to your Clip to keep the conversation going. This product is particularly valuable when demonstrating product features or showcasing various functionalities.
Notes:
- Zoom Clips is no longer a public beta and can be accessed by the account types listed in the prerequisites.
- Clips is enabled by default for users but admins can follow this article to disable Clips for their users if desired.

How to enable or disable Clips for your own account
To use Clips make sure it’s enabled for your account. You have the option to allow users to download your clips, and you can activate email notifications for the initial view, as well as any comments and replies associated with your clips. To get started, you need to access your Zoom web portal by following the steps below.
- Sign in to the Zoom Web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Settings.
- On the top of the page, click the Clips tab.
Enable or disable Clips for your own account
- To the right of Clips, click the toggle to enable
or disable it
.
Notes:
- If disabled, you will not be able to create new Clips. You will have access to existing Clips in the Clips tab in your web portal and client. After enabling it, you will refresh your page to be able to create Clips.
- If your admin disabled the setting and it’s locked you will not be able to create Clips or enable Clips for yourself. You will have access to any existing Clips you’ve created.
Allow users to download your Clips
- To the right of Allow users who can access clips to download clips, click the toggle to enable
or disable
it.
Note: If disabled, only admins in the account and the clips' owner will be able to download those clips.
Request a password for users to access your Clips
- To the right of Require password to access shared clips, click the toggle to enable
or disable
it.
Notes:
- Once enabled, a password will be required for the users to access your clips. Admins can set up a rule that you'll need to follow when creating your password.
- A password will be required only for newly generated Clips once the setting is turned on.
Receive email notifications for your clips
- (Optional) Under Email Notification, to the right of the following features, click the toggle to enable
or disable
the setting.
Note: If any of those toggles are greyed out and cannot be changed, the setting is locked at the account or group level and needs to be changed at those levels. Contact your admin for assistance.
- Notify me when there is the first viewer: You’ll receive an email notification when there’s a first view of your clips.
- Notify me when receiving a new comment: You’ll receive an email notification for any new comment added to your clips.
- Notify me or viewer when receiving a reply: You or your viewer will receive an email notification about new replies to comments for your clips.
How to create a Clip
Make sure Clips is enabled to be able to use it.
Create a Clip from the web portal
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Clips.
- On the right of the page, click Create Clip.
You will be redirected to open your Zoom application and a Create Clip small window will display. - (Optional) Proceed to the Adjust Clips settings before starting the recording section to adjust any setting as desired.
- Click Start Recording.
A count-down timer will start before you start recording your clip to give you some time to get ready. - While recording, you can access and click the following:
A clock will display to show you the length of time you’ve been recording.
- Mute
: To mute or unmute your audio. - Video
: To start or stop your camera. - Pause
: To pause and resume your recording. - Trash
: To cancel or resume your recording.
- Click Finish on the clock, to stop the recording.
Your clip will be uploaded and displayed in the Zoom client Clips tab and in the Clips library web portal.
Create a Clip from the Zoom desktop client
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- On the top menu bar, click Clips.
Note: If you have many products on your menu bar, click the More icon (
) to access Clips. - Click Create Clip or do one of the following:
By default, you’ll land in the All Clips menu to create your clip if none is created yet.
- (Optional) If you’re using a Windows computer, on the bottom right corner of your computer, click the arrow, right-click on the Zoom icon, then click Create Clip.
- (Optional) If you’re using a macOS computer, on the top right of the status bar, click Zoom, then click Create Clip.
- (Optional) Proceed to the Adjust Clips settings before starting a recording section to adjust any setting as desired.
- Click Start Recording.
A countdown timer will start before you start recording your clip to give you some time to get ready. - While recording, you can access and click the following icons:
A floating Clips setting bar with a clock will display to show you the length of time you’ve been recording.
- Mute
: To mute or unmute your audio. - Video
: To start or stop your camera. - Pause
: To pause and resume your recording. - Trash
: To cancel or resume your recording.
- Click Finish on the floating Clips setting bar, to stop the recording.
Your clip will be displayed in the Zoom client Clips tab and the Clips library web portal.
Adjust Clips settings before starting a recording
Screenshare and video is the default mode when Clips is launched but you can change the mode to record what you want as described below.
- In the Create Clip window, click one of the following buttons to record:
- Screenshare and video
: Your computer screen and your camera video at the same time.
Your computer screen will be selected by default for screen share.
- (Optional) Click Desktop 1 > within the Create Clip window.
A window to select your desired screen will open if you have multiple screens attached to your computer. - On the window, click the desired screen you’d like to share.
- Click Select.
The selected screen will be highlighted in green.
- Screenshare only
: Your computer screen without your camera video.
Your computer screen will be selected by default for screen share.
- (Optional) Click Desktop 1 > within the Create Clip window.
A window to select your desired screen will open if you have multiple screens attached to your computer. - On the window, click the desired screen you’d like to share.
- Click Select.
The selected screen will be highlighted in green.
- Video only
: Your camera video without your computer screen.
- Click on the right of the following icons to select:
- Audio
: The source of your audio. - Video
: The source of your camera if your clip includes video. - Display
: The resolution of the final recording.
Notes:
- When choosing Screenshare and video or Screenshare only to be recorded, you can choose between Auto(1080), 1080p, or 720p.
- When choosing Video only to be recorded, you can choose between Auto(1080p), 1080p, 720p, or 360p.
- In the middle of the Create Clip window, click the Clips title box, then enter a title for your clips.
Note: You can also change the title after you finish recording. - Click the Advanced Setting drop-down arrow
, then do any of the following as desired:
- Click the Virtual Background drop-down arrow
, select a virtual background, then on the top left, click Back to go back to the previous screen. - Click the Layout & Wallpaper drop-down arrow
, select a Layout and/or Wallpaper, then on the top left, click Back to go back to the previous screen. - Click the Touch up & Effects drop-down arrow
, select Touch up my appearance and drag the slider as needed. Select Adjust for low light, then on the top left, Click Back to go back to the previous screen. - Click the toggle to enable
or disable
Mirror my video. - Click the toggle to enable
or disable
Noise suppression.
Note: Noise suppression is enabled by default.
How to access your list of Clips
After creating your Clips you can easily access them from the web portal or client and share them with others.
Access your list of Clips from the web portal
- Sign in to the Zoom Web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Clips.
- On the Clips page, click the All Clips, My Clips, Shared with Me, or Starred tab.
The list of your clips will be displayed. - (Optional) On the top right select, click the list to grid icon
to change your view from list to grid and vice versa. - (Optional) Proceed to the How to search, share, and manage your clips below.
Access your list of Clips from the Zoom desktop client
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- On the top menu bar, click Clips.
- On the right of the Clips page, click the All Clips, My Clips, Shared with Me, or Starred tab.
All Clips is the default display, but you can choose any of the menu options to view desired lists. - (Optional) On the top right select, click the list to grid icons
to change your view from list to grid and vice versa. - (Optional) Proceed to the How to search, share, and manage your clips below.
How to search, share, and manage your clips
You can search, share and manage your clips from your client or the Zoom web portal. The steps in the sections below apply to both.
Search your clips
You can search your clips by name or use filters to locate them. Follow these steps.
- Access your clips.
- In the search box, enter the name of the clip you are looking for or identify your clip from the list.
- (Optional) In the Last Created box, filter your search by selecting:
- Last Created: Default selection to filter the most recent clips created.
- Last Viewed: Most recent clips viewed.
- Last Modified: Most recent clips modified.
- Alphabetical: List clips in alphabetical order.
- (Optional) In the All Tags box, filter your search by selecting:
- All Tags: Default deselection to filter clips that are tagged.
- Tag name: List clips according to their tag names.
- Identity the following:
- Name: Title given to the clip.
- Owner: Name of the owner of the clip.
- Starred: Clips starred or not starred.
- Creation time: Time period from the current date/time the clip was created.
Share your clip
- Access your clips.
- In the search box, enter the name of the clip you are looking for or identify your clip from the list.
- On the bottom of the clip, click one of the following:
- The link icon
to share the link directly with your users as you wish. - The download icon
, to download the clip onto your computer then share it as you wish. - The more icon(
), then click Share.

- Enter the email address of the user(s) to share the clip with, or click Copy Link to share the link as you wish.
Note: You can also manually copy the URL link under Shareable Link to share with others. - At the bottom left, under Link access, select one of the following:
- Anyone with the link: Allow anyone to view the clip without restriction.
- Anyone at Your Organization: Allow anyone in your organization to access the clip.
- Only invited members: Allow only a specific people to view the clip.
- (Optional) At the bottom right, click More Setting, then select Use password protection, to request a password to access your Clips, then click Save.
- Click Share.
Note: Share is only clickable if you enter an email address in the box. - On the top right, click X to exit the sharing window.
Manage your clips directly from your list
You can manage your clips by renaming them, changing their thumbnails, and deleting them. You can also view the statistics of your clips. Follow the steps below:
- Access your clips.
- On the clip, do the following:
- On the top left of the clip, click the checkbox icon, to select the clip.
- On the top right, click the start icon
to add or remove the clip from your favorite list. - On the bottom left of the clip, identify the duration of the clip and the number of views
.
Note: The duration will be displayed in seconds, minutes, or hours. - Under the name of your clip, click:
- The link icon
to share the link directly with your users as you wish. - The download icon
, to download the clip onto your computer then share it as you wish. - The more icon(
), then click:
- Share: Share your clip.
- Rename: change the title of your clip.
- Star this clip/Un-star this clip: Add or remove the clip to/from your favorite list.
- Change thumbnail: Move/adjust the default image or click the change icon to select an image from your computer, then click Select as Cover.
- Move to trash: Delete the clip.
Note: Deleted clips are still accessible for retrieval for 30 days from the day it was deleted, then it’s permanently deleted and cannot be retrieved.
How to edit a clip
- Access your clips.
- In the search box, enter the name of the clip you are looking for.
- Click on the clip.
- On the clip itself, click one of the following icons:
- Play
: Play the clip. - Volume
: Adjust the clip volume. - Speed: Change the speed to 1.25x, 1.5x, or 2.0x.
- Cut
: Trim the clip. - Fullscreen
: Extend the clip to full screen.
- (Optional) Click on an Emojis icon to apply a reaction at a specific time in the clip.
- On the top right of the page, click the Edit tab.
- Select Edit basic information or Add call-to-action button, then do one of the following:
- Under Edit Basic information:
- Change thumbnail: Move/adjust the default image or click the change icon to select an image from your computer, then click Select as Cover.
- Title: Change the title of the clip.
Note: You can change your clip title from the generic one provided and use up to 50 characters. - (Optional) Description: Enter a description for your clip. For example, you could describe its content.
- (Optional) Tag: Enter a tag to easily identify your clip.
- Click Save.
- Under Add call-to-action button:
Adding a Call-to-action button allows you to insert a button with text on a Clip that will take the user to a URL you define.
- Add link: Enter a link for your call to action.
- Button text:Add the text you want to appear on the button.
- Button location: Select a location in the clip to place your call-to-action button.
- When to display button: Select the time to display your call-to-action button.
- Button color: Select a color for the button.
- Text color: Select a color for the text on the button.
- Button shape: Select a shape for your button.
- Button style history: Select a button from the last 4 buttons you created.
- Click Add.
- (Optional) On the bottom of the screen, click You haven’t edited the description, to make any other basic changes as needed.
How to view your clips comments
- Access your clips.
- In the search box, enter the name of the clip you are looking for.
- Click on the clip.
- On the top right, click the Comments tab.
- Identify a comment and do the following:
- Click the reply icon
to provide a reply. - Click the link icon
to share the link of the comment. - Click the more icon (
) to edit or delete the comment. - Click the highlighted time to view the timestamp of a comment on the video playback.
How to view your clips statistics
Statistics are only visible with Zoom Clips Plus.
- Access your clips.
- In the search box, enter the name of the clip you are looking for.
- Click on the clip.
- On the top right, click the Statistics tab.
- Select the date for the data you’re looking for and view the following:
- Total views: Total number of views for your clips for that period.
- Completion rate: Average value of all viewers’ completion rate.
- Total reactions: Total number of reactions for your clips for that period.
- Total comments: Total number of comments for your clips for that period.
How access your deleted clips
After deleting a clip, it will be accessible for 30 days from the date it was deleted, then will be permanently deleted. To access your deleted clips, follow these steps.
- Access your clips.
- On the top of the page, click the Trash tab.
The list of your deleted clips will display. - Search or identify the deleted clip, and view the following:
- Name: Name of the clip.
- Owner: Name of the owner of the clip.
- File Size: Size of the clip.
- Creation Time: Time period from the current date/time the clip was created.
- Delete Time: Time period from the current date/time the clip was deleted.
- To the far right of a clip, click the more icon (
), then select one of the following:
- Restore: Retrieve the clip from the trash.
- Deleted: Permanently delete the clip.
- On the top right of the page, click Empty Trash, to permanently delete all clips at once from your account.
How to access your clips notifications
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal or client.
- Click Clips, then click one of the following:
- From the Zoom web portal: click the Notifications tab.
- From the Zoom desktop client: On the upper right of the global navigation bar, click the Activity Center icon
