Zoom Clips admin guide


Zoom Clips offers a convenient solution for capturing both personal video and screen activities, allowing users to effortlessly share their recordings with others. This feature is particularly valuable when demonstrating product features or showcasing various functionalities. Users can conveniently access their Clips through their client or web portal, and receive notifications about views, comments, and replies related to their Clips. The feature can be enabled or disabled at the account, group, or user level.

How to enable or disable Clips

You can enable or disable Clips at the account, groups, or user level and lock the feature to prevent users from changing it.

Enable or disable Clips for your entire account

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Account Management, then Account Settings.
  3. On the top of the page, click the Clips tab.
  4. To the right of the following features, click the toggle to enable or disable the setting.
    • Clips: Enable Clips for your entire account.
    • Allow users who can access clips to download clips: Allow users who have access to Clips to download their clip recordings.
      Note: If disabled, only admins will be able to download Clips in their account.
    • Viewers can view comments: Allow users to view comments on shared clips.
      Notes: This setting applies only to newly generated clips after enabling it. When disabled, only the clip's owners and admins of the account can view comments on clips.
      • Select Allow viewers to post comments, to allow viewers to comment on clips in your account.
    • Share clips: Allow clips to be shared with others from your account, then select one of the following:
      Note: If disabled only clip's owners and admins can access clips in the account.
      • Allow clip owners to share with anyone: Allow the clip's owners to share their clips within and outside of your organization.
      • Allow clip owners to share with users in the same organization: Allow the clip's owners to share their clips within your organization only.
    • Shareable link access default setting: Set the default shareable link access setting for clips in your account by selecting one of the following:
      • Anyone with the link: Anyone with the link can view clips from your account.
      • Anyone at your organization: Only users in your organization can view clips from your account.
      • Only invited members can view: Only invited users can view clips from your account.
    • Require password to access shared clips: A random password will be required to access shared clips in the account, then select the following rules as desired:
      Note: This setting only applies to newly generated clips and doesn’t apply to clips prior to enabling this setting.
    • Under Customize password rule, then to the right of Have a minimum password length, select a password length requirements, then select any of the following:
      Note: Customizing the password rule is only available at the account level.
      • Have at least 1 letter (a, b, c...): Require a minimum of 1 letter in the password.
      • Have at least 1 number (1, 2, 3...): Require a minimum of 1 number in the password.
      • Have at least 1 special character (!, @, #...): Require a minimum of 1 special character in the password.
      • Only allow numeric passcode: Require only numeric passcode in the password.
        Note: Selecting this option will disable any previously selected requirements.
      • Click Save.
    • Notify the clip owner when there is the first viewer: The owner of the clip will receive an email notification when there’s a first view of their Clips.
    • Notify the clip owner when receiving a new comment: The owner of the clip will receive an email notification for any new comment added to the Clips.
    • Notify the clip owner or viewer when receiving a reply: The clip owner or viewer will be notified by email about new replies to comments on the Clips.
  5. (Optional) To the right of Clips, click the lock icon to prevent your users from changing the setting.
  6. (Optional) If Clips is disabled and locked, click the eye icon image.png to make Clips invisible for your entire account.
    Note: The Clips tab will not appear in the Zoom Web portal or desktop client of your users, but as an admin, you’ll still be able to access the setting in your portal to enable it when desired. This option is only available at the account level.

Enable or disable Clips for a group of users

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Web portal
  2. In the navigation menu, click User Management, then Groups.
  3. Click the name of the group you want to enable Clips for.
  4. Click the Clips tab.
  5. To the right of the following features, click the toggle to enable or disable the setting.
    Note: If any of those toggles is greyed out and cannot be changed, the setting is locked at the account level and needs to be changed at that level.
    • Clips: Enable Clips for your group.
    • Allow users who can access clips to download clips: Allow users who have access to clips to download their clip recordings.
      Note: If disabled, only admins will be able to download clips for the group.
    • Viewers can view comments: Allow users to view comments on shared clips.
      Notes: This setting applies only to newly generated clips after enabling it. When disabled, only the clip's owners and admins of the account can view comments on clips.
      • Select Allow viewers to post comments, to allow viewers to comment on clips created by the group.
    • Share clips: Allow clips to be shared with others, then select one of the following:
      Note: If disabled only clip's owners and admins can access clips in the account.
      • Allow clip owners to share with anyone: Allow the clip's owners to share their clips within and outside of your organization.
      • Allow clip owners to share with users in the same organization: Allow the clip's owners to share their clips within your organization only.
    • Shareable link access default setting: Set the default shareable link access setting for clips created in the group by selecting one of the following:
      • Anyone with the link: Anyone with the link can view clips created by the group.
      • Anyone at your organization: Only users in your organization can view clips created by the group.
      • Only invited members can view: Only invited users can view clips created by the group.
    • Notify the clip owner when there is the first viewer: The owner of the clip will receive an email notification when there’s a first view of their Clips.
    • Notify the clip owner when receiving a new comment: The owner of the clip will receive an email notification for any new comment added to the Clips.
    • Notify the clip owner or viewer when receiving a reply: The clip owner or viewer will be notified by email about new replies to comments on the Clips.
  6. (Optional) To the right of Clips, click the lock icon to prevent users in the group from changing the setting.

Enable or disable Clips for a specific user

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click User Management, then Users.
  3. Click the email/name ID of the user you want to enable Clips for.
  4. Click the Settings tab.
  5. Click Zoom Clips.
  6. To the right of the following features, click the toggle to enable or disable the setting.
    Note: If any of those toggles is greyed out and cannot be changed, the setting is locked at the account or group level and needs to be changed at those levels.
    • Clips: Enable or disable Clips for the user.
    • Allow users who can access clips to download clips: Allow the user to download their clip recording.
      Note: If disabled, only admins will be able to download Clips recorded in their account.
    • Viewers can view comments: Allow users to view comments on the user's shared clips.
      Notes: This setting applies only to newly generated clips after enabling it. When disabled, only the clip's owners and admins of the account can view comments on clips.

How to access and manage clips for your account

To access the list of clips created by your users, follow these steps.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Account Management, click Clip Management, then proceed to one of the following sections.
    The list of clips for your entire account will display.

Search for clips created by your users

  1. In the Search By Clip Name or Tag box, enter the name or tag of the clip you’re looking for or in the Owner box, enter the name of the owner.
  2. (Optional) Click Advanced Search, then filter the date as follow:
    • In the Any time box, leave the default or select, Last 30 days, Last 60 days, or Last 120 days.
    • Select a Created from date To date.
  3. Click Search.

Identify clips created by your users

To identify clips created by your users, view the following columns:

Manage clips created by your users

You can manage clips in your account, by renaming them, changing their thumbnails, and deleting them. Follow the steps below:

To the far right of a clip, click one of the following icons:

Share clips created by your users

  1. To the far right of a clip, click the more icon , then do the following, then click Share.
  2. Enter the email address of the user to share the clip with, or
  3. To the right of Shareable Link, click image.png Copy Link to directly share the URL link of the clip as you wish with others.
  4.  (Optional) Under Link access, click the down arrow , and select:
    • Anyone with the link can view: Allow anyone to view the clip without restriction.
    • Anyone at Your Organization: Allow only members within your account to view the clip.
    • Only invited members can access this clip: Only invited members by specific emails can view the clip.
    • (Optional) On the bottom right, click More Setting, select Use password protection, to add a password to view the clip. Click Save.
  5. On the top right of the Share Clip window, click X to exit the screen.

Access deleted clips in your account

After deleting a clip, it will be accessible for 30 days from the date it was deleted, then will be permanently deleted. To access deleted clips for your account, follow these steps.

  1. On the top of the page, click the trash icon  .
    The list of your deleted clips will display.
  2. Identify the following:
    • Name: Name of the clip.
    • Owner: Name of the owner of the clip.
    • File Size: Size of the clip.
    • Creation Time: Time period from the current date/time the clip was created.
    • Delete Time: Time period from the current date/time the clip was deleted.
  3. To the far right of a clip, click the more icon (  ), then select one of the following:
    • Restore: Retrieve the clip from the trash.
    • Deleted: Permanently delete the clip.
  4. On the top right of the page, click Empty Trash, to permanently delete all clips at once from your account.
