Using the Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint App
The Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint app helps businesses collaborate within Team Chat by allowing users to easily and quickly access their OneDrive and SharePoint storage. This app allows users to access files and documents from OneDrive and SharePoint without having to switch back and forth between applications.

Prerequisites for using the Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint app
- A Zoom account
- A Microsoft OneDrive Business and SharePoint Online account
- Zoom desktop client
- Windows: version 5.13.0 or higher
- macOS: version 5.13.0 or higher
Limitations for the OneDrive and SharePoint app
- OneDrive Personal accounts are currently not supported for the OneDrive file picker.
How to install from the Zoom App Marketplace
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.
- In the top-right corner of your screen, search for the OneDrive and SharePoint app by Zoom.
- Click Add.
- Review the requested permissions and click Authorize.
Once installed, the app will be displayed under the Apps section of the Team Chat tab of the Zoom desktop client.
How to connect the Team Chat App to your OneDrive and SharePoint account
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click the Team Chat tab .
- At the bottom of the left chat panel, find the Apps section.
- Select the OneDrive and SharePoint app.
- Click Connect.
You will be prompted to connect your Zoom account with your OneDrive Business and SharePoint Online account. - Sign in with your OneDrive Business and SharePoint Online account.
When sign-in is successful, you will see a message from the app indicating it is ready to use.
How to use the OneDrive and SharePoint app
With the OneDrive and SharePoint app for Zoom Team Chat you will be able to:
- Create Word documents, Excel workbooks, and PowerPoint presentations
- Share files from OneDrive and SharePoint within Team Chat
- Set sharing permissions for files shared from OneDrive and SharePoint
Create a new OneDrive and SharePoint file
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click the Team Chat tab .
- Select the 1:1 or group chat you want to share a file with.
- Below the chat text compose box, click on the OneDrive and SharePoint app icon .
A menu of options will appear. - Click the type of document you want to create:
- Create a Document
- Create a Workbook
- Create a Presentation
- Enter a title for the new document.
- Click Create.
A new document will be created and available for use.
Word documents, Excel workbooks, PowerPoint presentations, and other files can also be quickly shared by using a slash command.
Share a file
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click the Team Chat tab .
- Select the 1:1 or group chat you want to share a file with.
- Below the chat text compose box, click on the OneDrive and SharePoint app icon .
A menu of options will appear. - Click Share from OneDrive and SharePoint.
The OneDrive file picker will appear. - Search for and select a file.
- Click Select to post it to the Team Chat conversation.
Set sharing permissions for files shared from OneDrive and SharePoint
Upon creating a new Word document, Excel workbook, or PowerPoint presentation, or sharing a file from OneDrive Business and SharePoint Online to a conversation in Team Chat, you will be able to set your sharing permissions for that file. This allows you to control who has access to the document or file.
After creating or selecting a document to share with others, adjust the following permissions for this file:
- Who can access: Choose which members of the chat group or channel can access the document: Channel members, Your Organization, or Anyone with link
- With role: Choose what permission level users will have with the document: View or Edit
Slash commands for the OneDrive and SharePoint app
Once installed, the OneDrive and SharePoint app can be used from any Team Chat channel. The following slash commands are available in any 1:1, group chat, or chat channel:
- /onedrive connect
Enter /onedrive connect to sign in to your OneDrive and SharePoint account. - /onedrive disconnect
Enter /onedrive disconnect to sign out of your OneDrive and SharePoint account. - /onedrive help
Enter /onedrive help to receive a list of all available commands. - /onedrive create document
Enter /onedrive create document to create a new Word document. - /onedrive create presentation
Enter /onedrive create presentation to create a new PowerPoint presentation. - /onedrive create workbook
Enter /onedrive create workbook to create a new Excel workbook. - /onedrive share
Enter /onedrive share to share a file from your OneDrive account.
How to disconnect the Team Chat app from your OneDrive and SharePoint account
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click the Team Chat tab .
- At the bottom of the left chat panel, find the Apps section.
- Select OneDrive and SharePoint.
- Enter the slash command /onedrive disconnect.
- Click Disconnect.
The app will be disconnected from your Google Workspace account
How to remove the OneDrive and SharePoint app
- Sign into the Zoom App Marketplace.
- In the top-right corner of the page, click Manage.
- In the navigation menu, click Added Apps.
- Next to the OneDrive and SharePoint app, click Remove.
- Confirm the dialogue and click Remove.
Data Security
- This app has access to the following information on Zoom:
- This chat app can send a chat message to a chat channel or Zoom user under the Zoom account.
- View your user information
- View your Team Chat channels
- This app has access to the following information on OneDrive and SharePoint:
- Read permission - See your personal information on Microsoft
- Read, write, edit permissions - See, edit, create, and delete all of your OneDrive and SharePoint files and items in all site collections.
- Communications between this chat app and Zoom/OneDrive and SharePoint are encrypted:
- Protocol: TLS 1.2
- Cipher suite: ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256
- Key length: 128 bits
- Perfect Forward secrecy: YES
- This chat app stores access credentials in the local data store:
- Microsoft API tokens and Zoom OAuth credentials (both user-level only) are stored in an encrypted database.
