Understanding Zoom Room types and license requirements

Zoom Rooms have different features and intended purposes based on their type and license requirement. Roles with access to Zoom Rooms on the web portal can configure the room type during or after the setup process. Available room types

Zoom Rooms (for shared spaces)
Creates the default Zoom Room configuration.
Kiosk
Creates a virtual receptionist kiosk.
Personal Zoom Rooms (Zoom for Home)
Creates a Zoom Room linked to one user.
Scheduling Display Only
Creates a room for in-person only meetings that can be reserved on the scheduling display.
Digital Signage Only
Creates a room that can only share images and join meetings. Digital Signage Only rooms can only receive audio, video, and shared content in meetings.
Standalone Whiteboard
Creates a device for whiteboard collaboration.
Companion Zoom Room
A Zoom Rooms for Touch device can be configured as a companion to an existing Zoom Room computer or appliance.
Companion Whiteboard
A Zoom Rooms for Touch device can be configured as a companion whiteboard to an existing Zoom Room computer or appliance.

Note: Companion Zoom Rooms and Companion Whiteboards are configured outside of the Zoom web portal.

No license required
- Personal Zoom Room
Requires one license (the license is not actually used by these types)
Requires a license (each instance uses one license)
- Zoom Rooms (for shared spaces)
- Kiosk
- Personal Zoom Room Pro
- Standalone Whiteboard

The following features require a license and are available for Zoom Rooms (for shared paces) and Personal Zoom Room pro devices.

Note: Standard Personal Zoom Rooms do not require a license and do not have access to these features.
