Managing Zoom Events Chat Etiquette Tool
Zoom Events account owners and admins can create Chat Etiquette policies to identify defined keywords or text patterns/regular expressions (such as account numbers). Then, this tool determines what action occurs when a policy is triggered.
When a user attempts to send a message through Zoom Events chat that triggers a Chat Etiquette policy, the user is either warned or blocked from sending the message. Chat Etiquette policies are configured at the account level in the Zoom web portal. Chat etiquette policies are also applied to webinar Q&A content.

After creating Chat Etiquette policies for Zoom Events, the Chat Etiquette policies will appear under Chat Etiquette Policy on the Zoom Events admin web portal. You can manage those policies or create new policies for the account at any time.
How to understand Chat Etiquette policy priority
When a message triggers multiple Chat Etiquette policies, a more restrictive action is applied to the message. A Chat Etiquette policy is considered more restrictive if its action was configured as Block the message.
For example, if a message triggers 5 Chat Etiquette policies:
- If all 5 of the Chat Etiquette policies had the action Ask user to confirm sending of message selected, the user is asked to confirm if they want to send the message.
- If any of the 5 Chat Etiquette policies had the action Block the message configured, the user’s message is blocked.
