Using the Microsoft Dynamics 365 app for Team Chat
The Dynamics 365 App for Zoom Team Chat helps businesses collaborate within Team Chat by accessing the Microsoft Dynamics cloud-based CRM. This app allows users to search, share, and attach chat messages to Dynamics 365 Sales records, reducing the need to switch back and forth between Zoom and other applications.

How to install and configure the Zoom Dynamics 365 app for Team Chat
Install the app
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.
- Search for Dynamics 365.
- Click Add.
- Review the requested permissions and click Authorize.
Once installed, the app is displayed in the Team Chat tab of the desktop client under Apps .
Admin configuration the Dynamics 365 App for Team Chat
After installing the app from the Zoom App Marketplace, the app is displayed under the Apps section of the Team Chat tab of the Zoom desktop client. Before users can sign-in and begin using the Team Chat App, a Zoom administrator who is also a Dynamics 365 administrator must sign-in and configure their account with Dynamics 365 first. Users will not be able to sign-in successfully until this is done by the Dynamics 365 Administrator.
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click the Team Chat tab .
- At the bottom of the left chat panel, find and open the Apps section.
- Select Dynamics 365.
You will see a welcome message from the App. - Click Connect.
A message will appear saying that admin setup is required. - Click Admin Connect
You will be directed to the Dynamics 365 configuration page. - Provide the Dynamics 365 domain and click Connect
- Sign in with the Microsoft Dynamics account
Upon receiving a successful connection notification, the app is now configured for your Zoom account. Users on your account can now access the Dynamics domain configured.
Admin configuration of objects and fields for Dynamics 365
To configure objects and fields you need to be signed in as a Zoom administrator. You can configure what objects will display in Zoom Team Chat by invoking the slash command /dynamics365 configure
- Enter the /dynamics365 configure slash command in a chat/channel
- The configure objects modal will appear and then you will be able to edit or delete existing objects, or add a new object.
- Click Add an Object.
- Search for and select the object you want to add to your current configuration.
- Select up to 10 fields you want to allow users to display on interactive cards when posted to a channel.
- Click Save when you are ready to add the new object
You will return back to the configure object screen and see the newly added object at the bottom of the list
How to connect the Dynamics 365 app to your account
Now that an admin has installed the app for the account and gone through the configuration process, users on the account can now connect the app to their Dynamics 365 account.
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click the Team Chat tab .
- At the bottom of the left chat panel, find the Apps section.
- Select Dynamics 365 .
- Click Connect.
You will be prompted to connect your Zoom account with your Dynamics 365 account. - Follow the on-screen steps to sign-in and connect your account.
When successful, you will see a message from the Team Chat App indicating the app is ready to use.
Note: A Dynamics 365 Administrator will need to sign-in and configure the Dynamics 365 app first, otherwise, users will not be able to sign-in and connect to their account successfully.
How to use the Dynamics 365 app
With the Dynamics 365 app you will be able to:
- Search and share Dynamics 365 Sales records to Team Chat
- Add chat messages as notes to Dynamics 365 Sales records
- Leverage slash commands to access Dynamics 365 Sales
Search and share records
- In a Zoom Team Chat conversation, click on the Dynamics 365 Chat app icon in the compose box.
A search modal will appear to easily search and find a record in Dynamics 365. - Type in the search field to find records in your Dynamics 365 account, including standard objects such as Accounts, Contact, Opportunities, and Leads.
- Click on the search result to preview the record.
- If it is the correct record, click Share to post the record to a conversation.
The record will be posted to the Team Chat 1:1, group chat, or channel.
Add a chat message as a note to a Dynamics 365 record
- In a Zoom Team Chat conversation, click the more icon next to a message.
Additional options will appear. - Click Add to Record .
- Search for and select the record you want to add the message.
- Add a title to the note
- Click Add to Record.
The message will be added as a new note to that record in Dynamics 365.

The following slash commands are only available for admins

Enter /dynamics365 configure to configure objects and fields with your Dynamics 365 account. -

Enter /dynamics365 disconnect all to disconnect Dynamics 365 from your Zoom account.
How to disconnect the Dynamics 365 app from your account
- In a Zoom Team Chat conversation, enter the /dynamics365 disconnect slash command.
Your Dynamics 365 account will be disconnected from the Dynamics 365 app.
Admins can also use the /dynamics365 disconnect all slash command to disconnect all users on their account from their Dynamics 365 account at once.
How to uninstall Dynamics 365 from the App Marketplace
- Log in to the App Marketplace web portal.
- Click Manage and then click Added Apps.
- Next to the Microsoft Dynamics 365, click Remove.
Data Security
- This app has access to the following information on Zoom:
- View all groups subscribed to by a Zoom user under the Zoom account.
- View information of a Zoom user under the Zoom account.
- This app has access to the following information in Microsoft Dynamics 365:
- Data within the connected Dynamics 365 environment
- This chat app has the following permissions on Zoom:
- This chat app can send a chat message to an IM channel or Zoom user under the Zoom account.
- This chat app sends alerts to an IM channel or Zoom user.
- Communications between this chat app and Zoom/Dynamics 365 are encrypted:
- Protocol: TLS 1.2
- Cipher suite: ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256
- Key length: 128 bits
- Perfect Forward secrecy: YES
- This chat app stores access credentials in the local data store:
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 OAuth tokens and Zoom OAuth credentials (both user-level only) are stored in an encrypted database.
