Translating messages in Team Chat

Organizations using Team Chat across different regions and countries likely have multiple languages used by their users, which can slow down communications or introduce confusion between teams. This article explains how users can translate messages sent in Zoom Team Chat, expediting communications.

How to translate a message in Zoom Team Chat

Windows | macOS
  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
  2. Click the Team Chat tab .
  3. Next to the message you want to translate, click the ellipsis icon .
    Additional options for this message will appear.
  4. Click Translate.
    The message will be replaced by the translation.
  5. (Optional) Below the translated message, click Show Original to revert the translation back to the language.

Changing your default translation language

By default, your preferred language is based on the language used by the desktop client, but you can change the language you want to translate the message into regardless of the language used by the device and client.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
  2. Click your profile picture, then click Settings.
  3. Click the Team Chat tab.
  4. Under Message Translation, choose your preferred language from the dropdown menu.

  2. Tap the Team Chat tab .
  3. Long-tap the message you want to translate.
    Additional options will appear.
  4. Tap Translate.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. In the bottom-right corner, tap More .
  3. Tap Team Chat .
    Mobile app settings related to Team Chat are displayed.
  4. Under Message Translation, tap Preferred language to view other languages.
    The list of supported languages will be displayed.
  5. Tap to choose your preferred language.
