Managing custom templates for Zoom Whiteboard


Using templates can simplify the creation of whiteboards. Apart from the predefined templates available in the templates dashboard, users can create, personalize, reuse, and share custom templates from any group of content on a whiteboard.

Note: This feature is only available for accounts with a Whiteboard Plus license.

How to create a custom template

  1. Create or open an existing whiteboard.
  2. At the top right, click the ellipsis icon .
  3. Select Save Page as Template.
  4. Enter a name, add description, and select categories for your template.
  5. Click Save Template.

How to access custom templates

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. At the top, click the Whiteboards button  .
    Note: If you don’t see the Whiteboards option, click More  and then select Whiteboards from the list.
    The Zoom Whiteboard dashboard will display.
  3. Click All templates.
    The templates dashboard will display.
  4. In the left menu, click My Templates.
  5. Select a template you want to open.

    The templates dashboard will display.
  4. In the left menu, click My Templates.
  5. Select a template you want to open.
  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap More .
  3. In the Added Features section, tap Whiteboard .
  4. Click All templates.
    The templates dashboard will display.
  5. In the left menu, scroll down to the bottom and click My Templates.
  6. Select a template you want to open.
  1. Sign in to the Zoom Web App.
  2. At the top, click the Whiteboards button .
    The Zoom Whiteboard dashboard will display.
  3. Click All templates.
    The templates dashboard will display.
  4. In the left menu, click My Templates.
  5. Select a template you want to open.

How to share a custom template

  1. Open My Templates.
  2. Select a template you want to share.
  3. In the lower right corner of the selected template tile, click the ellipsis icon .
  4. Click Share with Contacts.
  5. Enter the contact name, or email address of the user you would like to share the whiteboard with and set their permissions with the drop-down arrow to the right of the entry box.
    Note: Custom templates can only be shared with users from the same organization.
  6. Click Share.
    Once shared, any updates to a shared template are immediately accessible by other users with access.

How to submit a custom template to organization

  1. Open My Templates.
  2. Select a template you want to share.
  3. In the lower right corner of the selected template tile, click the ellipsis icon .
  4. Click Submit to Organization to share templates that will benefit the entire organization.
  5. Click Submit.
    A copy of the template will be submitted to admin for approval. Once approved, this will become an org template. Any edits to the org template after it is submitted to an organization does not impact the submitted copy.

How to preview a custom template

  1. Open My Templates.
  2. Select a template you want to share.
  3. In the lower right corner of the selected template tile, click the ellipsis icon .
  4. Click Preview.
    The preview screen will display. From the preview screen, you can also use the template in whiteboard, share, submit to organization, edit, or delete the template.

How to edit a custom template

  1. Open My Templates.
  2. Select a template you want to share.
  3. In the lower right corner of the selected template tile, click the ellipsis icon .
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Change the name, description, or categories of the template.
  6. Click Save Template.

How to favorite a custom template

  1. Open My Templates.
  2. Select a template you want to share.
  3. On the top right of the selected template tile, click the star icon .
    All the templates you have marked as favorites will be visible in the Starred tab.

How to use a custom template in whiteboard

  1. Open My Templates.
  2. Select a template you want to share.
  3. In the lower right corner of the selected template tile, click the ellipsis icon .
  4. Click Use Template.
    The new whiteboard will open with the added template.

How to delete a custom template

  1. Open My Templates.
  2. Select a template you want to share.
  3. In the lower right corner of the selected template tile, click the ellipsis icon .
  4. Click Move to Trash.
  5. Click Delete.
