Creating a Mind Map in Zoom Whiteboard

Mind Map is a visual diagram used to organize thoughts that stem from a central idea. Mind mapping provides users with a dedicated control that includes creation and organization functionality. Users can add elements and auto-organize Mind Map as it grows.

Note: Mind Map is only available with out-of-meeting Whiteboard.

How to create a Mind Map in Zoom Whiteboard

  1. Create a new whiteboard in the Zoom web portal or Zoom desktop client.
    Note: To edit an existing whiteboard, open a whiteboard from the dashboard.
  2. In the toolbar on the left side of the screen, click the More Tools icon .
  3. Select Mind Map.
  4. Choose between Horizontal or Vertical Mind Map.
    The Mind Map cursor will appear, enabling the user to select where to place the Mind Map. The placement becomes the Mind Map Origin.
  5. Double-click the Mind Map origin to add text.
    The format menu will appear.
  6. Use the format menu to add formatting to the elements.

How to add elements to the Mind Map origin

Adding elements to the Mind Map origin enables users to expand and grow their Mind Map.

Add parent elements

  1. Click the Mind Map origin.
  2. Click the plus icon to add the parent element.
    The parent element will start the branch.
  3. (Optional) Use the format text menu to do the following:

Note: The parent element inherits the font size from the origin element. Multiple parent elements can be added to the origin.

Add child elements

Users can add child elements to the parent element. This creates branches and routes for the Mind Map.

  1. Select a parent element.
  2. Click the plus icon  to create a child element.
  3. The child element will be added to the branch.
  4. (Optional) Use the format text menu to do the following:

Note: Users can add multiple child elements. The parent element does not resize based on the child elements.

Add subsidiary elements

Users can add elements below the child element level. These elements are subsidiary elements.

  1. Select a child element.
  2. Click the plus icon to create a subsidiary element.
  3. Subsidiary elements will be added to the child element.
