Enabling Smart Recording with AI Companion
Smart Recording brings the power of Zoom AI Companion to cloud recordings, allowing hosts to get more out of their Zoom Meetings and Webinars. Smart Recording supports multi-language cloud recordings, uses AI technology, which may include third-party models, to automatically divide cloud recordings into smart chapters for easy review, highlight important information, create next steps for attendees to take action, and even provide the host with analytics on key meeting and conversation factors, including talk speed, talk-listen ratio, longest spiel (or monologue), filler word usage, and patience.

Note on Data Usage
Zoom does not use any audio, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments or other communications-like content (such as poll results, whiteboard and reactions) to train Zoom’s or third-party AI models.
We evaluate and update our models periodically and those used to support Zoom AI Companion may change from time to time. For features in AI Companion that use third-party AI model providers, we will share relevant data with those third-parties when you use the feature. For example, if you use smart recording to provide AI-generated insights, the meeting transcript and cloud recording will be sent to the relevant model to provide the service. Data may be processed within U.S. based data centers.

If Smart Recording is disabled and locked, there will be an additional option below, allowing admins to control if the Smart Recording option is still shown in a meeting or not. If shown in a meeting, the host can request to have the feature enabled. If there is an admin in the current meeting that can adjust account or group settings, they will see the request during the meeting and be prompted to take action or ignore. If no admin is in the current meeting, an email will be sent by Zoom to all account admins.
- If Shown in Meetings toolbar is displayed, the meeting host will still see the in-meeting option and have the option to request an admin enable this feature.
- If Hidden in Meetings toolbar is displayed, the meeting host will not see the in-meeting option nor the ability to request admin enablement. Before the next meeting, the host would need to enable the user-level web setting (if unlocked at account and group levels) or request an admin provide them access to this feature (if locked at either group or account level).
