Cisco assisted provisioning guide

If you are having issues with zero-touch provisioning or your phone doesn’t support it, follow the section below to provision a supported Cisco phone.

How to reset the existing configuration of the Cisco phone

  1. On your phone, press the Menu button.
  2. Navigate to Device administration.
  3. Press Factory reset.
  4. Press OK to confirm the factory reset.

How to obtain the Cisco phone’s IP address

  1. On your phone, press the Menu button.
  2. Use the phone’s directional pad to select Status, click Network status, then IPv4 status to see the IP of the phone.
    Note: Make a note of the IP address.

How to enable provisioning on the Cisco phone

  1. Using your web browser, navigate to the IP address you make a note of.
    The Cisco IP phone web page will be displayed.
  2. Click on Admin, then click on Advanced links.
  3. Under the Voice tab, open the Provisioning tab.
  4. In the Configuration Profile, click the Profile Rule field.
  5. Type the appropriate external provisioning URL listed on the page by device model.
  6. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Submit All Changes.
    Your phone will reboot to complete the configuration.

How to update the firmware manually (Optional)

If you need to manually update the firmware, you can follow these steps.

  1. Using your web browser, navigate to the IP address you make a note of.
    The Cisco IP phone web page will be displayed.
  2. Click on Admin, then click on Advanced links.
  3. Under the Voice tab, open the Provisioning tab.
  4. Click the Upgrade Rule field.
  5. Identify the model of the device and copy the URL from the firmware version supported column.
    For example, in the field for an 8800 series model, you could type: https://hybridupdate.zoom.us/pbx/cmterm-88xx.11-3-7MPP0001-272_REL/sip88xx.11-3-7MPP0001-272.loads
