Assigning Zoom United or Zoom Workplace plans using Okta provisioning (SCIM API)
Automatic provisioning of Zoom United or Zoom Workplace Licensing with Okta user management requires additional configuration once User Management with Zoom has been set up.
When configuring Okta for the Zoom Workplace Enterprise or Zoom Workplace Enterprise+ plan types, the default Okta configuration does not need to be changed.
The information provided in this article only applies to the following plan types:
- Zoom United
- Zoom Workplace Business Plus (with regional calling plan)
- Zoom Workplace Enterprise Premier (with regional calling plan)
- Zoom Workplace for Education School and Campus Plus (with regional calling plan)
- Zoom Workplace for Education Enterprise Premier (with regional calling plan)
- Zoom Workplace for Education Enterprise Student

How to assign Zoom United or Zoom Workplace plans using Okta provisioning (SCIM API)
Custom attribute lookup
Refer to the developer documentation for SCIM2 (automated provisioning) for the following:
- External Name
- External Namespace
- Enumerated list of values to enter
Add custom attributes
- In the Okta Console left navigation menu, access Applications.
- Click the name of your Zoom app.
- Click the Provisioning tab.
- Clear the Create Users, Update User Attributes, and Deactivate Users checkboxes.
Note: This is to ensure that Okta does not attempt to sync while making changes to the Zoom profile. - Click Go to Profile Editor then Add Attribute.
- Configure the fields depending on your current plan by referring to the custom attribute reference table below.
- Click Save.
- Go back to Applications.
- Click the name of your Zoom app.
- Click the Provisioning tab.
- Select the Create Users, Update User Attributes, and Deactivate Users checkboxes.

Scope | Note: It is recommended to disable the User personal check box so admins can assign this attribute based on Okta groups and only select it if a source attribute has been created as the plan for each user. |
Assign plan to groups
Once you have added the customer attribute, you can proceed with assigning this attribute based on Okta groups.
Note: User(s) must be assigned to the Zoom app in Okta as Licensed.
- In Okta Console, access Applications.
- Click the name of your Zoom app.
- Click the Assignments tab.
- Click Assign then Assign to Groups.
- In the Assign to Groups window, search for the appropriate group then click Assign.
- Select the plan you wish to assign then click Save and Go Back.
- Click Done.
- (Optional) Sign in to the Zoom web portal and verify that the plan was assigned accordingly under User Management. If you are an account owner or a user with the user activities reports role, you can also check the Admin Activity Logs.
