Enabling or disabling animated GIF images for Team Chat


As an account owner or admin, you can enable or disable users’ ability to search and send animated GIF images when they compose messages in Team Chat. Additionally, you can set a G, PG, PG-13, or R rating for GIPHY content to restrict certain GIF images in Team Chat based on GIPHY’s content rating system. The default content rating is G. This setting is only available at the account and group levels.

Enable or disable animated GIF at the account level

To enable or disable Search and send animated GIF images for all users in the account:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
  3. Click the Team Chat tab.
  4. Under Sharing, click the Search and send animated GIF images toggle to enable or disable it.
  5. If a verification dialog displays, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
  6. By Set the GIPHY content rating, click the dropdown menu and select a rating for GIPHY content:
    • G - Level 1
    • PG - Level 2
    • PG-13 - Level 3
    • R - Level 4
  7. (Optional) Click the lock icon to lock the setting. If locked, it will also be locked for all groups and cannot be changed at that level.

Enable or disable animated GIF at the group level

To allow or not allow a group of users to search and send animated GIF images:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation menu, click User Management then Groups.
  3. Click the name of the group.
  4. Click the Team Chat tab.
  5. Under Sharing, click the Search and send animated GIF images toggle to enable or disable it.
  6. If a verification dialog displays, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
