Changing Zoom Phone soft deletion settings
Account owners and admins can enable or disable the ability to soft delete users. If enabled, admins can soft delete phone users by clicking the option to Move to Trash. Soft-deleted users can be restored within 30 days. After that, the phone user will be permanently deleted from the account. This setting doesn't apply to Zoom Rooms with a phone license or common area phones. Admins can also enable a related setting to automatically delete inactive or soft-deleted users.
Admins can also enable or disable the ability for phone users to soft delete history, voicemail, and recordings. If enabled. users can restore their soft-deleted items within 30 days. After that, it will be permanently deleted. To correctly see recovered items in the Zoom app, phone users must have the global minimum version or higher.

How to enable or disable Automatically delete Inactive and Soft Deleted users
Account
Once enabled, the system will automatically delete inactive users or soft-deleted users within the period set below.
To enable or disable Automatically delete Inactive and Soft Deleted users for all users in the account:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
- Click the Zoom Phone tab.
- Under General, click the Automatically delete Inactive and Soft Deleted users toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
- To the right of Permanently delete soft deleted users after, click the dropdown menu and specify the number of days users are kept in a soft-deletion state. After the specified amount of days, soft-deleted users are permanently deleted.
- Select the Soft delete inactive users after checkbox to automatically delete inactive (deactivated) users after a specified amount of days.
Note: The phone number of a soft-deleted user will stop working. - Click Save.
- (Optional) To prevent all users in your account from changing this setting, click the lock icon , and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
How to enable or disable Soft Delete History, Voicemail and Recordings
Account
Once enabled, any soft-deleted history, voicemail, or recording can be restored within a certain amount of time (up to 30 days). After that, it will be permanently deleted from the account.
To enable or disable Soft Delete History, Voicemail and Recordings for all users in the account:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
- Click the Zoom Phone tab.
- Under General, click the Soft Delete History, Voicemail and Recordings toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
- Click the dropdown menu and specify the number of days the history, voicemail, and recordings are kept in a soft-deletion state. After the specified amount of days, soft-deleted history, voicemail, and recordings will be permanently deleted from the account.
- Click Save.
