Assigning a department or cost center to extensions

Account owners and admins can assign a department or cost center to phone users, common area phones, call queues, auto receptionists, shared line groups, and pickup groups. They can also bulk-assign departments using a CSV file.

This feature allows admins to filter dashboard and usage data based on department or cost center, so you can better break down bill charges. For example, if your organization has separate cost centers for sales and customer service, you can break down your phone charges by these cost centers. 

Note: This feature does not generate a separate invoice for the department or cost center.

How to assign or edit a cost center and department for extensions

  1. Access settings for one of the following extensions:
  2. In the Profile tab, click Set or Edit next to Cost Center or Department.
  3. Enter a cost center or department, then click Save.

How to filter the quality of service dashboard data by department or cost center

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Dashboard.
  3. Click the Zoom Phone tab.
  4. In the top-right corner, select Search by department or Search by cost center, then enter the exact name of the department or cost center.

How to view usage charges by department or cost center

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Reports.
  3. Click Phone System.
  4. Click the Charge tab.
    You will see the Department and Cost Center columns in the table.
  5. Click Export to export your search results as a CSV file.
  6. Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet application like Microsoft Excel. Use your spreadsheet application to filter data by department or cost center.
