While you can update virtual appliances directly from the web console interface, virtual appliances can also be configured to auto-update when the appliance is idling.

How to update a virtual appliance on the web console interface

1. In your web browser, navigate to the appliance's web console: https://IPaddress:5480
2. Sign in with admin credentials.
3. In the navigation menu, click Update.
4. Click Check for Updates.
5. If an update is available, click Install Updates.
   The appliance will start the download and installation process. Once installation is complete, the appliance will automatically restart.
6. Sign back in to the web console to confirm the update is complete. 
7. Click Dashboard, and verify the zctrl and mmr processes are running.

How to enable auto-update for a virtual appliance

1. In your web browser, navigate to the appliance's web console: https://IPaddress:5480
2. Sign in with admin credentials.
3. In the navigation menu, click Configure.
4. Under Update Settings, enable Automatic check and install updates. 
5. Click Submit.
