Upgrading or downgrading Zoom Rooms

Account admins or owners can remotely upgrade their Zoom Rooms software to the latest version or downgrade them to the previous Zoom Rooms version by using the Zoom web portal. Zoom Room controller software can be upgraded manually or by using Zoom device management from the web portal. The controller software cannot be downgraded.

How to upgrade Zoom Rooms from the web portal

Windows | macOS

To upgrade Zoom Rooms for all users in the account:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile picture or initials, then click Admin Center.
  3. In the side menu, click Product configuration .
  4. Click Rooms, then Zoom Rooms.
  5. Click the Devices tab.
  6. In the top-right, click Upgrade, then click one of the following options:
    • App: Upgrade the Zoom Rooms app for all devices.
    • Platform OS: Upgrade the OS on all devices.

If you want to update the App on one device, select the device on which to update:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile picture or initials, then click Admin Center.
  3. In the side menu, click Product configuration .
  4. Click Rooms, then Zoom Rooms.
  5. Click the Devices tab.
  6. Click the ellipses more-button.png next to the device you want to upgrade and select from the following options:
    • Upgrade OS: Update the device's OS.
      Upgrade App: Upgrade the Zoom Rooms app for the device.
  7. (Optional) Choose whether to Schedule this upgrade, Override room activity to upgrade, or both.
  8. At the bottom left of the Upgrade Zoom Rooms window, click the drop-down arrow in the box, then select the version you wish to update to.
  9. Click Upgrade, or Schedule, depending on your selections. If you chose to Override room activity to upgrade, click Upgrade again.

If you want to update the App on several devices, select the required devices:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile picture or initials, then click Admin Center.
  3. In the side menu, click Product configuration .
  4. Click Devices, then Device list.
  5. Select the desired devices.
  6. On the top right, click Upgrade.
  7. Click App.
  8. (Optional) Select whether to Schedule this upgrade, Override room activity to upgrade, or both.
  9. At the bottom left of the Upgrade App window, click the drop-down arrow in the box, then select the version you wish to update to.
  10. Click Upgrade, or Schedule, depending on your selections. If you chose to Override room activity to upgrade, click Upgrade again.
    Note: Zoom Rooms will wait up to 30 minutes before proceeding with the upgrade to confirm that no meetings are in progress or about to start. If you need to upgrade faster, you can choose to override room activity to proceed with the upgrade.

How to downgrade Zoom Rooms

Windows | macOS

Note: You can only downgrade to the previous version. 

To downgrade Zoom Rooms for all users in the account:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile picture or initials, then click Admin Center.
  3. In the side menu, click Product configuration .
  4. In the navigation panel, click Rooms, then Zoom Rooms.
  5. Click the Devices tab.
  6. Select the desired devices.
  7. In the top-right, click Upgrade.
  8. Click App.
  9. In the bottom-left of the Upgrade App window, select Previous Version from the drop-down.
  10. Click Upgrade.
    Note: The Zoom Room will wait 30 minutes before proceeding with the downgrade to confirm that no meetings are in progress or about to start.
    The app version being downgraded will be listed. Click Cancel to stop the downgrade if needed.

 

How to upgrade the Zoom Room controller app

Zoom Room controller software on these devices can be updated manually from the devices themselves or by using Zoom device management from the web portal.

Embedded Android Zoom Room controllers

  • Upgrading a Polycom Trio
  • Upgrading a Crestron Mercury or Crestron TSS/ TSW: These devices are typically upgraded by Crestron.
  • Upgrading a Yealink CP960

How to upgrade Zoom Room Appliances

Logitech Rally Bar, Logitech Rally Bar Mini, Poly X30, X50, G7500, and DTEN Zoom Room Appliances need to be upgraded individually. Updates by location and by account are not supported.

Note: Neat Bar Zoom Room appliances receive auto-updates from Neat.

To upgrade Zoom Rooms appliances for all users in the account:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile picture or initials, then click Admin Center.
  3. In the side menu, click Product configuration .
  4. Click Room, then Zoom Rooms.
  5. Click the Devices tab.
  6. Click the All Manage Devices drop-down, and select Enrolled in ZDM to find Zoom Room Appliances.
  7. Select the Zoom Room Appliance that you want to upgrade.
  8. In the top-right, click Upgrade, and select from the following options:
    • OS: Update the device's OS.
    • App: Upgrade the Zoom Rooms app for the device.
  9. Click Upgrade to confirm.
  10. Once the upgrade is complete, refresh the Zoom web portal to view the latest version.

How to upgrade directly from the room

Enable the Allow to update the apps directly from the room option

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the top-right corner, click your profile picture or initials, then click Admin Center.
  3. In the side menu, click Product configuration .
  4. Click Room, then Zoom Rooms.
  5. You can use location hierarchy to enable this setting for a specific room or location. Click Account Settings to enable it for the entire account.
  6. Click Device Management on the left, then click Allow to update the apps directly from the room toggle to enable this option.
  7. (Optional) To make this feature mandatory for all rooms, click the lock icon , then click Lock to confirm.

Update from the room controller

  1. Tap the Settings icon, then tap About.
  2. Tap the update arrow next to Zoom Rooms Version or Controller Version.
  3. (Optional) Input the room passcode, if required.
  4. Tap Update or Later to cancel.

Update from the touch screen display

  1. Tap the Settings icon.
  2. Tap the update arrow next to App Version.
  3. (Optional) Input the room passcode, if required.
  4. Tap Update or Later to cancel.
