Testing your video

 

You can manually test your video camera with Zoom before joining a meeting—or during a meeting—to ensure that the camera is working properly. You can also start a test Zoom meeting.

Prerequisites for testing your video

Test your video before a meeting

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click your profile picture, then click Settings settings-button.png.
  3. Click the Video tab video-button.png.
    You will see a preview video from the camera that is currently selected; you can choose a different camera if another one is available.
     

Test your video while in a meeting

  1. Start or join a meeting.
  2. Next to Start Video/Stop Video on the meeting controls, click the up arrow up-arrow-button.png.
  3. Select Video Settings.
    Zoom will display your camera's video and settings.
  4. If you don't see your camera's video, under Camera, click the dropdown menu and select another camera.

You can rotate your camera, set a virtual background, create an avatar, or set a video filter

Linux

Test your video before a meeting

  1. Sign in to the Zoom client.
  2. Click your profile picture, then click Settings settings-button.png.
  3. Click the Video tab video-button.png.
    You will see a preview video from the camera that is currently selected; you can choose a different camera if another one is available.

Test your video while in a meeting

  1. Start or join a meeting.
  2. Next to Start Video/Stop Video on the meeting controls, click the up arrow up-arrow-button.png, then select Video Settings.
    This will open your video settings and you can change your camera.

Android

With the Zoom mobile app for Android, you can start an instant meeting to test your video. 

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. Tap the Meetings tab video-on-button.png.
  3. Tap New Meeting.
  4. Tap the Video On toggle to enable it. 
  5. Tap Start a Meeting

If this is your first time joining a Zoom meeting from this device, you will be asked to allow Zoom permission to access the camera and microphone.

iOS

With the Zoom mobile app for iOS, you can start an instant meeting to test your video. 

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. Tap the Meetings tab video-on-button.png.
  3. Tap New Meeting.
  4. Tap the Video On toggle to enable it. 
  5. Tap Start a Meeting

If this is your first time joining a Zoom meeting from this device, you will be asked to allow Zoom permission to access the camera and microphone.
