Changing your name on Zoom


You can rename yourself on the Zoom clients and your account profile to keep your name up-to-date across the platform. On your account profile and Zoom platform, you can change your full name on your Zoom account, which will appear to other users on the same account, and your display name, which is the name that appears on your profile across the Zoom platform, such as your profile card and in meetings and webinars. Additionally, you can customize your screen name before, during, or after a Zoom meeting.

How to change your name on Zoom

Change your name on the Zoom web portal

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Profile.
  3. By your account profile name, click Edit.
  4. For your account profile name, enter your First Name and Last Name.
  5. For your Display Name, enter a name (e.g. your first name, full name, or nickname) that will be shown to others on Zoom.
  6. Click Save.

Change your name on the Zoom clients

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click your profile picture, then click Settings.
  3. Click Profile.
    Note: You can also click My Profile, which will open a new web browser window where you can edit your name in the Zoom web portal.
  4. Click Edit My Profile.
    A new web browser window will appear, directing you to the Zoom web portal.
  5. Edit your profile in the Zoom web portal.

Android | iOS

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. In the bottom right corner, tap More .
  3. Tap your account name.
    The My Profile screen will appear.
  4. Tap Display Name.
  5. For your account profile name, enter your First Name and Last Name.
  6. For your Display Name, enter a name (e.g. your first name, full name, or nickname) that will be shown to others on Zoom.
  7. Tap Save.

How to change your name on Zoom when joining a meeting

When you join a Zoom meeting (on the desktop client, mobile app, or web client), you can enter the meeting ID number and have the option to update your name.

If you're signed in, change your name if you don't want your default name to appear. If you're not signed in, enter a display name that will appear to other meeting participants.

How to change your name on Zoom during a meeting

When the Allow participants to rename themselves setting is enabled, you have the option to rename yourself during a meeting. When hosts disable this setting, you will not see the option to rename yourself.

  1. Join a Zoom meeting on the Zoom desktop client.
  2. On the Zoom in-meeting controls, click Participants .
  3. Hover your mouse over your name, then click the ellipses .
  4. Click Rename.
    A pop-up box will appear.
  5. In the pop-up box, enter your display name.
  6. Click Change.

Android | iOS

  1. Join a Zoom meeting on the Zoom mobile app.
  2. On the Zoom in-meeting controls, tap Participants .
  3. Tap your name, then tap Rename.
    A pop-up box will appear.
  4. In the pop-up box, enter your display name.
  5. Tap Done.

Web

  1. Join a Zoom meeting on the web client.
  2. On the Zoom in-meeting controls, click Participants .
  3. Hover your mouse over your name, then click More.
  4. Click Rename.
    A pop-up box will appear.
  5. In the pop-up box, enter your display name.
  6. Click Change.
