When you join a Zoom meeting hosted by another user, you are considered a participant, unless the original host adds you as a co-host or transfers host controls to you. The user who scheduled the meeting or was selected to be the alternative host (if the host is unable to join) will have host controls . Learn more about roles in a meeting .

After joining a meeting on the Zoom desktop app, participants can access features in the meeting controls toolbar at the bottom of the meeting window.
Note : The options listed here are based on the default order and the placement of your controls may vary depending on customization and usage. Some controls may not be available to you if the meeting host or an admin on your account has disabled a feature, if your Zoom plan is not supported, or if your device is not supported.
Join audio : If you haven't joined the meeting audio yet, you will have the Join audio option in your meeting controls toolbar. Click Join audio to choose an audio option, such as Join with computer audio .Audio / : Mute and unmute your microphone.
To access more audio controls, click the up arrow icon next to Audio . This is where you can change the microphone and speaker that Zoom is currently using on your computer, leave computer audio, and access all audio settings . Tip : Use the following keyboard shortcuts to mute or unmute yourself. You can also use push to talk if you want to unmute yourself by holding the spacebar.
Windows: Alt + A macOS: Command (⌘ ) + Shift + A
Video / : Turn your camera on or off.
To access more video controls, click the up arrow icon next to Video . This is where you can select a different camera, adjust your virtual background , and access all video settings .
Participants : Open the Participants panel to view who's currently in the meeting and invite other participants . Hover over your display name and click More to access additional options:
Chat : Open the Chat panel to chat with other meeting participants .React : Send emoji floating effects, emoji reactions , raise hand , and other nonverbal feedback to communicate issues or feedback to the host and other meeting participants without disrupting the meeting. Reactions, raise hand, and other nonverbal feedback (yes, no, slow down, speed up, I'm away, and be right back) are shown on your video tile and next to your name in the Participants panel. Floating effects are shown over your video tile (only available when video is on).Share : Start a screen share (if the host allows). You will be able to select the desktop or application you want to share.AI Companion : Open the AI Companion panel to use AI Companion in the meeting. Click one of the preset options such as Catch me up , Was my name mentioned , or Are there any action items , or enter your own prompt.Meeting info : View the meeting ID, passcode, invite link, host's name, and your participant ID, as well as a description of the meeting.Apps : Open the Zoom Apps panel to use Marketplace Apps directly in the meeting.More :

Record to this computer : Depending on the host's settings , you may be able to record to your computer . Request to record to this computer : The host will need to give you permission to record. Clicking this option will send a request to the host to allow you to record to your computer.Request host to record to the cloud : Clicking this option will send a request to the host to start cloud recording . Participants do not have access to start cloud recordings.
Transcript : Open the Transcript panel to view the meeting transcript.Captions : Show automated or manual captions if available.Docs : Open or create a Zoom Doc from within the meeting.Notes : Open or create a Zoom Note from within the meeting.Whiteboards : Open or create a Zoom Whiteboard from within the meeting.Start billable hours : Start or stop tracking billable hours for the meeting. Reset to default : Reset the toolbar options to the default placement.
Leave : Leave the meeting. Only the host can end the meeting for all participants.
Android | iOS
After joining a meeting on the Zoom mobile app, participants can access features in the meeting controls toolbar at the bottom of the meeting window, except for Leave meeting which appears at the top-right corner.

Join audio : If you haven't joined the meeting audio yet, this option allows you to connect to the meeting's audio. Once connected, you can mute or unmute your microphone.Unmute / Mute : Mute and unmute your microphone. Stop video / Start video : Turn your camera on or off. Note : If using the mobile app for Android or iOS, your video will automatically turn off if you switch away from Zoom to another app or your home screen.Participants : Open the Participants panel to view who's currently in the meeting and invite other participants . Tap your display name to access additional options to rename yourself or mute/unmute yourself.Chat : Open the Chat panel to chat with other meeting participants .Reactions : Send emoji floating effects, emoji reactions , raise hand , and other nonverbal feedback to communicate issues or feedback to the host and other meeting participants without disrupting the meeting. You must tap Join audio in the meeting controls again if you want to connect to the meeting's audio.
