DTEN D7 frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Software and Firmware Upgrades

How do I find the D7 firmware version I am running?

There are two ways to check your DTEN D7 version:

Option 1: On the DTEN D7 display

Press the menu button (second button from the bottom) located at the back of the display:

The D7 will display the General Settings window with the firmware version in the bottom-right corner:

Option 2: On the Zoom web portal

Prerequisite: Zoom Rooms v4.4.1 or higher; DTEN D7 v1.3.2 or higher.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Navigate to Room Management > Zoom Rooms.
  3. Click the room that is set up with a DTEN D7.
    See the Firmware Version column for the current version of the DTEN D7.

 

How do I check the Zoom Rooms software version?

There are two ways to check your DTEN D7 version:

Option 1: On the DTEN D7 display

  1. Press and hold on the screen until you see a light gray box and a menu pop-up
  2. Let go and a menu pop-up will appear.
  3. Tap About. A pop-up windows will display the current Zoom Rooms version.

Option 2: On the Zoom web portal

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Navigate to Room Management > Zoom Rooms.
  3. Click the room that is set up with a DTEN D7.
    See the Firmware Version column for the current version of Zoom Rooms.

 

How do I receive firmware updates?

Version 1.3.0 or higher

If the D7 is on version 1.3.0 or higher, it received a mandatory update to v1.3.2 on July 26th, 2019 at 11 pm PST. You can update your D7 in the Zoom web portal for future updates.

Note: If you’re on a closed network, allow zoom.us, to receive the mandatory update to v1.3.2. 

Version 1.2.3 or lower

If the D7 1.2.3 or lower, the D7 is not a Zoom-only system. If you do not upgrade the D7, you will not be able to:

How do I upgrade the D7's firmware from v1.3.2 to v1.3.4?

You can upgrade the D7 using the Zoom web portal. The upgrade process may take approximately 30 minutes. The D7 will automatically restart during the upgrade process.

Prerequisites:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Navigate to Room Management > Zoom Rooms.
  3. Click the room that is set up with a DTEN D7.
  4. In the Devices tab, click Upgrade below the current D7 firmware version.
    You will see the following pop-up window.
  5. Choose one of these options to manage the upgrade schedule:
    • At night (Around 1:00AM): The upgrade will start around 1:00 AM device time.
    • Non-meeting time: Only upgrade if there is no meeting in the room. The upgrade will start within 30 minutes.

 

What does the Upgrade button in the Zoom Rooms web portal do?

This means there is an update available. Click Upgrade to update the D7 firwmare or Zoom Rooms application to the latest version.

Note: You will not be able to see the Upgrade option if the D7 firmware is on v1.3.0 or lower. The D7 firmware must be v1.3.2 or higher. Zoom Rooms must be v4.4.1 or higher. 

 

What is the default D7 system Zoom image?

The default D7 system Zoom image is the system that is designed and configured for Zoom Rooms. These are the requirements to have the default D7 system Zoom image installed:

Common Issues

I just updated Zoom Rooms to v4.4.1. How do I exit Zoom Rooms?

With the release of Zoom Rooms v4.4.1, we removed the Exit Zoom Rooms button in the Zoom Room Settings screen.

Follow these steps to exit Zoom Rooms:

  1. Connect a Windows wired or wireless keyboard to one of the blue-colored USB ports on the top-left side of the display.
  2. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL using the keyboard.
  3. Tap Sign Out.
  4. Log in to Windows using Zoom Admin (password: Zoom1234).

 

I updated Zoom Rooms and received a black screen. What should I do?

Uncheck Enable Windows auto login during installation to disable auto login:

How do I connect the D7 to Wi-Fi?

For version 1.2.2 and below:

  1. Press the Input button (the second button from the bottom, located on the rear, lower-right side of the display).
  2. Tap PC. It will take you to the Windows desktop or the Zoom Rooms home screen.

If you see the Windows desktop:

  1. Tap the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Select the network you want to connect to.
  3. Click Connect and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you see the Zoom Rooms home screen:

  1. Tap Exit.
  2. Enter the room passcode when prompted.
  3. Tap the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom-right corner.
  4. Select the network you want to connect to.
  5. Click Connect and follow the on-screen instructions.

For version 1.3.0 and above:

  1. Connect a Windows wired or wireless keyboard to one of the blue-colored USB ports on the top-left side of the display.
  2. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL using the keyboard.
  3. Tap Sign Out.
  4. Log in to Windows using Zoom Admin (password: Zoom1234).
  5. Tap the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom-right corner.
  6. Select the network you want to connect to.
  7. Click Connect and follow the on-screen instructions.

 

How do I fix issues with the D7 microphone? (Microphone is not working or the quality is not clear)

  1. Unplug the the DTEN mic array bar on the top of the unit, then plug it back in. You will see a notification and a plug-in sound effect if the system detects the media bar.
  2. In the Zoom Rooms application, tap a blank area of the screen then tap Settings in the lower-right corner.
  3. Tap Microphone.
  4. Tap the Source field and select Microphone (DTEN Mic Array 7).

 

How do I fix issues with microphone echo?

Follow these steps if you hear severe audio echo problems:

  1. In the Zoom Rooms application, tap a blank area of the screen then tap Settings in the lower-right corner.
  2. Tap Microphone.
  3. Enable Software Audio Processing and Reduce excessive sound reverberation. Learn more about Zoom Rooms audio.

After enabling those settings, you can run an echo test.

 

How do I troubleshoot Proximity Direct Share on the D7?

Check your DTEN D7 serial number. If it contains 41 (e.g. DB0355A1C0A414300XXX), contact support@dten.com. They will set up a call and guide you through the update process.

Why is the whiteboard button missing on the screen?

The DTEN D7 is pre-installed with Zoom Rooms for Touch. You do not need to log in to access the whiteboard. You can access the whiteboard before or after starting a meeting.

Why is the shutdown or reboot button missing on the screen?

Contact support@dten.com. They will set up a call and guide you to install Zoom Rooms on the D7.

 

What's the default password for exiting the Zoom Rooms app on the D7?

There shouldn't be a password by default. If you are prompted for a password, try 00000 or 97979797. You can also view your Zoom Room passcode using the Zoom web portal.

 

What's the default login for D7 Windows users?

For the Zoom Rooms auto-login user:

The D7 automatically shuts down at midnight and turns on at 6 AM. How do I fix this?

This is a known issue that has been fixed in version 1.2.2. Check your DTEN D7 version using these steps:

  1. Click on the input menu button (located on the back, lower right side on the DTEN D7, second button from the bottom).
  2. Check the version number at the lower-right corner.
  3. If the version is 1.2.2 or below, contact support@dten.com to request a firmware upgrade.

 

Features and Settings

How do I access PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) controls on the D7?

Note: The functionality of the PTZ will vary based on hardware. If you do not see PTZ-enabled Zoom Rooms, contact support@dten.com.

To access PTZ controls:

  1. When in the meeting, tap the vertical ellipsis icon (three dots) at the bottom right corner.
  2. Tap Camera Control to open PTZ controls.

 

How do I increase the speaker volume? 

Note: Make sure to upgrade the D7 to the latest version. The D7 has improved speaker volume in version 1.3.4. 

Increase the volume by using the volume buttons located on the back of the DTEN at the lower-right corner. Also make sure you change the default speakers to the DTEN's built-in speakers:

  1. On the DTEN touchscreen, tap a blank area of the screen then tap Settings in the lower-right corner.
  2. Tap Speaker.
  3. In the Source section, select DTEN Board as default audio output.
  4. Tap Test Speaker button to test the quality of the speaker.
  5. Use the volume slider to adjust the volume.

 

Can I disable Zoom Rooms for Touch user interface?

You can't disable the Zoom Rooms for Touch user interface since the DTEN D7 is touch enabled and comes pre-installed with it. Zoom Rooms for Touch contains the same controls as the regular Zoom Rooms controller.

 

Does Zoom Rooms support dual touch screens on the DTEN D7 55” Dual?

Yes, make sure you follow the instructions to set up dual monitors in Zoom Rooms for Touch.

 

How to I pin or spotlight a participant's video in Zoom Rooms on the D7?

  1. Start a new or scheduled meeting.
  2. Tap the screen to display the bottom bar.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Manage Participants button.
  5. Tap the participant you want to spotlight or pin.
  6. Tap Spotlight Video or Pin Video.

How do I save a whiteboard on the D7?

You can save and share a whiteboard session, including annotations, by sending an image of the whiteboard via email. If your whiteboard has multiple pages, each page will be a separate image.

How many participants can the D7 handle?

It depends on the video quality and sharing features that are running during a meeting. A standard DTEN D7 can run a meeting for up to 60 participants.

 

How do I change the time zone?

  1. Connect a Windows wired or wireless keyboard to one of the blue-colored USB ports on the top-left side of the display.
  2. Press the CTRL + ALT + DEL keys on the keyboard.
  3. Tap Sign Out.
  4. Log in to Windows using Zoom Admin (password: Zoom1234).
  5. Tap the Windows icon and search for Date & time settings.
  6. Tap the Time zone drop-down menu to change it.

 

How much CPU on average does the D7 use when running Zoom Rooms?

It depends on the video quality and sharing features that are running in a meeting. A standard DTEN D7 can run a meeting with up to 60 participants.
