Remotely upgrading Zoom Room devices with ZDM
You can upgrade the Zoom app, Operating System (OS) and firmware on many devices from the admin portal if they are enrolled in Zoom Device Management service (ZDM). You can also downgrade the Zoom app on supported devices.

Prerequisites for upgrading devices with ZDM
- Account owner or admin privileges
- Devices enrolled in ZDM
- Windows Zoom Room (signed into the app)
- macOS Zoom Room (signed into the app)
- macOS Zoom Room enrolled in Apple Business Manager
- iPad Zoom Room controller:
- Is in Supervised Mode (automatically set into "Supervised Mode" when enrolled with Apple Business Manager)
- Has Auto Updates disabled for App Store
- Does not have a device passcode

Upgrade the Zoom App from Room Management
You can follow these instructions for more information to downgrade the Zoom app from Room Management.
Upgrade the Zoom App from Device Management
Notes:
- To automate updating the Zoom app on your device you can enable the Automatically Update App settings.
- You will be able to select between the latest, the previous and the 2nd previous version to update your Zoom Room devices.
- Windows based Zoom Rooms need to update to the 64-bit version of the Zoom Room app to use the new whiteboard feature.
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Device Management then Device List.
- Click the Devices tab.
- Under All Managed Devices, select Enrolled in ZDM, then do the following:
If you want to update the App on one device, select the device on which to update:
- Identify the desired device.
- On the right of the app version, click the up arrow to upgrade.
- At the bottom left of the release notes box, click the drop down arrow in the box, then select the version you wish to update the Zoom Room application.
- Click Upgrade.
If you want to update the App on several devices, select the required devices:
- Select the desired devices.
- On the top right, click Upgrade.
- Select App.
- In the Upgrade App pop-up dialog window, click the drop down arrow in the box, then select the version you wish to update the Zoom Room application.
Note: if you are updating the app on same type devices, you will see the release notes for that device type. - Click Upgrade.
If you want to update your Windows Zoom Room client from 32-bit to 64-bit:
- Select the desired device.
- On the far right of the device name, click the three dots , then click Upgrade App.
- In the dialog box, click Advance, then check Upgrade 64-bit client.
- Click Upgrade.
Downgrade the Zoom app from Room Management

Downgrade the Zoom app from Device Management
Note: You cannot downgrade the Zoom app on Zoom Room Controllers and Android devices at this time.
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Device Management then Device List.
- Click the Devices tab.
- Identify the Zoom Room computer to downgrade the Zoom app from.
- On the far right of the device, click the ellipse then select Downgrade App.
- In the Downgrade pop-up dialog window, click the drop down arrow in the box, then select the version you wish to downgrade the Zoom Room application.
- Click Downgrade.
How to upgrade the OS/firmware from with ZDM
Upgrade the OS/firmware from Device Management
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Device Management then Device List.
- If you want to update the OS/firmware on one device, select the device on which to update:
- On the far right of the device, click the ellipse then select Upgrade OS.
- If you want to upgrade the OS/firmware on several devices, select the required devices:
- On the top right, click Upgrade, then click Platform OS.
- In the pop-up windows click Upgrade to confirm.
Note: To automate the OS/firmware update you can enable the Automatically Update OS/Firmware setting.
How long does the update take?
For the update to take effect, your Zoom Room should be online, signed in and not in a meeting.
