Sending a screen capture, file, or photo

In addition to messages, Zoom Team Chat allows you to send screenshots, images, files, and chat reactions to a chat contact, group chat, or channel. These features are available for both Zoom's standard chat encryption and advanced chat encryption.

You can also send and play video files through chat in the Zoom desktop client and mobile app.

How to send files and images in Zoom Team Chat

Send a screenshot

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click the Team Chat tab .
  3. Select the contact, group chat, or channel you want to send a screenshot to.
  4. Below the chat compose box, click Screenshot .
  5. Click and drag your mouse around the portion of your screen that you want to capture, then add any additional annotations, such as arrows, lines, boxes, or text.
  6. Click Capture.
    After you have captured the desired content, it will appear in your chat window.
  7. (Optional) Enter any text to accompany the screenshot.
  8. Press Enter to send.

Send a file or image

Note: Your account admin may have limited who you can send and receive files from.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click the Team Chat tab .
  3. Select the contact, group chat, or channel you want to send a file to.
  4. Below the chat compose box click File , or click and drag the file to the chat compose box.
  5. Select the file source.
    Note: You can also select a third-party service, if your admin enabled file sharing integrations.
  6. Browse the file system and select the file or image you want to send.
    When the file is uploaded, click × if you want to cancel the upload.
  7. (Optional) Enter any text to accompany the file.
  8. Press Enter to send.
    The chat window will show the filename and a green checkbox indicating that it was sent successfully.
    If you send an image, the image will display directly in chat.

    Notes:
    • If sending a video file, recipients will be able play the video directly in the chat window.
    • When sharing a Zoom Docs link in Team Chat, the document title will be displayed in place of the hyperlink.

Send a celebration reaction

Enter Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary in the chat compose box. The reaction will briefly appear on your chat window.

Send a screenshot

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click the Team Chat tab .
  3. Select the contact, group chat, or channel you want to send a screenshot to.
  4. Below the chat compose box, click Screenshot .

  7. Press Enter to send.

Send a screenshot

To send a screenshot, you will need to take a screenshot using your device's settings and then follow the steps below for sending an image.

Send an image

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. Tap the Team Chat tab .
  3. Select the contact, group chat, or channel you want to send a file to.
  4. Next to the chat compose box, tap the plus icon .
  5. Tap Photo Album .
  6. Tap the circle in each image to select them.
  7. Tap Done.
  8. (Optional) Enter any text to accompany the screenshot.
  9. Tap the send icon .
    The image, and any accompanying text, will be displayed to all recipients.

Use the camera to take and send a photo

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. Tap the Team Chat tab .
  3. Select the contact, group chat, or channel you want to send a file to.
  4. Next to the chat compose box, tap the plus icon .
  5. Tap Take a Photo .
  6. Use the camera to take a photo with the phone's built-in camera.
  7. Tap Confirm to send, or Retake.
  8. (Optional) Enter any text to accompany the screenshot.
  9. Tap the send icon .
    The image, and any accompanying text, will be displayed to all recipients.

Send a file

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. Tap the Team Chat tab .
  3. Select the contact, group chat, or channel you want to send a file to.
  4. Next to the chat compose box, tap the plus icon .
  5. Tap Send a File .
  6. Tap where the file is located.
  7. Browse and tap the file you want to send. If you select a third-party service like Dropbox, you will be prompted to sign in and grant Zoom access to your account.
  8. (Optional) Enter any text to accompany the screenshot.
  9. Tap the send icon .
  10. It will appear in the chat window with the file name and a check box indicating that it was sent successfully.
