Managing Zoom Mesh parents and children


While Zoom Mesh will automatically assign Mesh Parents and Children based on optimization and location configurations, admins can also enforce specific devices as parents or children. This can be useful if there are specific devices that admins want to always be Mesh Parents or devices they want to be excluded from being a Mesh Parent for stability reasons.

How to manage Zoom Mesh children and parents

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Advanced then Zoom Mesh.
  3. Click the Devices tab.
  4. Devices that have been assigned as a parent or child during a webinar or event will be displayed.
    Note: A device will not be displayed unless it has joined a webinar or event with Mesh enabled, as an attendee.
  5. Next to the desired device, click the More button.
    Note: When searching for a specific device, admins can search using the Device Name, or filter the list by Location or designated Mesh Type
  6. In the menu, select the assigned behavior (Mesh Type) for the device:

How to manage Zoom Mesh behaviors during Zoom Webinars and Events

Administrators can set whether mesh networks can be utilized either for specific Meeting IDs or exclude specific Meeting IDs from being able to use Zoom Mesh. To configure this option:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Advanced then Zoom Mesh.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Under Change mesh behavior for webinar and event select one of the following:
    • Enable mesh for all webinar and event except meeting in text input
    • Disable mesh for all webinar and event except meeting in text input
  5. In the input field below, enter the desired Meeting ID.
    Note: If adding multiple IDs, separate each ID with a semi-colon (;).
  6. Click Save.
