When participating in a group conversation in Team Chat, you may need to mention a user in the thread directly by tagging them. This can alert the mentioned user to action items, questions, or that their expertise may be useful in the conversation. When mentioning a user in a group chat or channel, that user must already be a member of that group or channel before you can mention them. Mentions are not possible in 1:1 chats.
Mentioned users will see the @me tag next to chat groups or channels where they were mentioned to better direct their attention.
You can also enter @all to mention all users in a channel or group chat. Use this sparingly, as it will notify all users in a channel or group chat. Channel admins can also restrict use of the @all mention.
Channel admins can also create custom mention groups, which mentions all associated members at once.
You can mention users in a chat message to notify them of your message. This is useful to notify a specific person when messaging a group chat or channel.
