Minimizing and exiting Zoom

You can keep the Zoom desktop app or mobile app running in the background as you work on other tasks, so that you can continue to receive notifications from chats or meeting invitations. You can also exit the application to apply any settings recently made by the admin.

How to minimize and exit Zoom

Windows

To minimize the Zoom desktop app window so that it continues to run in the background, right-click the Zoom icon in the task bar, then click Close window.

To exit the Zoom desktop app, right-click the Zoom icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner), then click Exit.

macOS
To minimize the Zoom desktop app window so that it continues to run in the background:

In the top-left corner of the Zoom desktop app:

  • Click the red circle to close the Zoom window; open Launchpad and click the Zoom icon to open the Zoom window.
  • Click the yellow circle to minimize the Zoom window to the dock; click the Zoom icon in the dock to open the Zoom window.
 
To exit the Zoom desktop app, in the top-left corner of the menu bar, click zoom.us, then click Quit Zoom.

Linux

To minimize the Zoom desktop app window so that it continues to run in the background, click on the green circle with the x inside located at the top-right corner of the Zoom window.

Or in the task bar, right-click on the Zoom icon, then click Close.

To exit the Zoom desktop app, right-click the Zoom icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of the taskbar), then click Exit.

Android

To minimize the Zoom app so that it continues to run in the background of your Android device:

  1. Tap the square icon at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Swipe left or right to locate Zoom.
  3. Swipe up or down to exit Zoom.

To exit the Zoom app on your Android device, tap the circle icon at the bottom of the screen
