Mass-deploying with Group Policy Objects

The Zoom desktop client can be deployed and configured in bulk for Windows by using the the MSI installer. Administrators can disable features such as screen sharing or video sharing for all meetings that a user joins, regardless of who is hosting the meeting. By installing with an Active Directory Administrative Template or registry keys, administrators can lock certain features and settings upon deployment of the desktop client.

Active Directory admins can configure Zoom settings and features through Group Policy at any time. Zoom does not need to be installed on the computer for these settings to be configured. Zoom can be downloaded at a later time and the configuration will apply the first time Zoom is launched. The settings apply whether the standard installer is used or the MSI installer is used. To ensure compatibility with the policies listed below, we recommend updating to the latest version of the desktop client or Zoom Rooms client.

The Zoom desktop application, as well as the Zoom Rooms application, can also be deployed and configured via command-line or Intune as well.

The desktop client can be enrolled in and managed through Zoom Device Management, which allows you to centrally control desktop client and mobile app settings in the Zoom web portal.

While the VDI host installer is an MSI file-type and can use the same switches as the standard client MSI installer, except for the AutoUpdate switch, there are some registry policies that are specific to the VDI client. Learn more about VDI-specific mass deployment options.

Learn to install Zoom with preconfigured settings for Windows devices, macOS devices, Android devices, and iOS devices. You can also use Zoom’s own Device Management platform to centrally configure desktop client and mobile app settings.

This article covers:

Prerequisites for configuring with GPO

Note: Some of the switches listed below require the latest version of the Zoom installer.
