Pinning participant videos in a meeting

Pinning videos allows you to keep specific participants visible on your screen throughout a meeting. When you pin someone's video, it only affects your personal view and won't change what other participants see.

When to use pinning:

Hosts can spotlight up to 9 videos to designate them as primary active speakers for everyone in the meeting. Unlike pinning, spotlighting affects all participants' views, and participants will see the selected speakers as active speakers. This feature is commonly used to highlight keynote speakers.

Limitations of pinning videos in meetings

*Note: On Zoom desktop app version 6.7.5 or higher, the host, co-hosts, and original hosts can pin a participant's video in meetings with 1000 or more participants. Additionally, the host can multi-pin participants' videos in meetings with 500 or more participants.

  2. Hover over the video of the participant you want to pin and click the ellipsis icon in the top-right corner of their video tile.
  3. Click Pin.
  4. (Optional) If you want to pin additional participants' videos (up to 9 total), repeat steps 1-2 as needed.

Allow participants to multi-pin

The multi-pin feature is supported by default for all participants on versions 6.4.0 and higher. If you’re on a version lower than 6.4.0, only the host or co-host can use the multi-pin feature by default, and must allow individual participants to use multi-pin.

  1. As the host or co-host, in the meeting controls toolbar, click Participants.
  2. Hover over the participant, click More, then click Allow to multi-pin.
  3. (Optional) Repeat steps 1-2 as needed for other participants.
