Stopping all incoming video in a meeting or webinar

If you need to preserve bandwidth for shared content, or want to avoid mental fatigue from viewing multiple, active video participants, you can easily stop all incoming videos. This will only affect your view of the meeting, while others are unaffected and unaware.

Enabling the stop all incoming video setting

Account

To enable or disable Enable "Stop incoming video" feature  for all users in the account:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
  3. Click the Meeting tab.
  4. Under In Meeting (Advanced), click the Enable "Stop incoming video" feature toggle to enable or disable it.
  5. If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
  6. (Optional) To prevent all users in your account from changing this setting, click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

Group

To enable or disable Enable "Stop incoming video" feature for a group of users:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit groups.
  2. In the navigation menu, click User Management then Group Management.
  3. Click the applicable group name from the list.
  4. Click the Meeting tab.
  5. Under In Meeting (Advanced), click the Enable "Stop incoming video" feature toggle to enable or disable it.
  6. If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
    Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the account level and needs to be changed at that level.
  7. (Optional) To prevent all users in the group from changing this setting, click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

User

To enable or disable Enable "Stop incoming video" feature for your own use:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation panel, click Settings.
  3. Click the Meeting tab.
  4. Under In Meeting (Advanced), click the Enable "Stop incoming video" feature toggle to enable or disable it.
  5. If a verification dialog displays, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
    Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the group or account level. You need to contact your Zoom admin.

Desktop app

To enable or disable Enable "Stop incoming video" feature on the desktop app:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
  2. Click your profile picture, then click Settings.
  3. Click Meetings & webinars.
  4. Scroll down and click Advanced.
  5. Under Advanced meeting, click the Enable stop incoming video feature toggle to enable or disable it.

Note: This setting must be enabled on the web portal and in the desktop app settings to be used in a meeting. There is no additional setting on the mobile client, so as long as this is enabled in web settings, it will be available in meetings you join through the mobile app. 

How to stop incoming video during a meeting

Windows | macOS | Linux
  1. Start or join a meeting.
  2. In the top-right corner of the meeting window, click View .
  3. Click Stop incoming video.
  4. (Optional) To resume viewing other participants' videos, click View  again, then click Start incoming video.
Android | iOS
  1. Start or join a meeting.
  2. In the meeting controls toolbar, tap the More icon
  3. Tap Meeting settings.
  4. Under General, tap the Stop incoming video toggle. 
  5. (Optional) To resume viewing other participants' videos, tap the Stop incoming video toggle again to disable it. 
Web app
  1. Start or join a meeting with the web app.
  2. In the meeting controls toolbar, click the More icon .
  3. Click Stop Incoming Video.
  4. (Optional) To resume viewing other participants' videos, click the More icon  again, then click Start Incoming Video.
