Hiding profile pictures in meetings and webinars
For additional security in meetings and webinars, you can choose to hide all participant profile pictures in a meeting or webinar and only display the names of the participants, including the host. Participants will not be able to update or share their profile pictures. This setting can be useful to prevent distracting or inappropriate images from being shown, to increase security and privacy in meetings and webinars.
Requirements for hiding participant profile pictures in a meeting
- Zoom desktop client
- Windows: 5.4.3 or higher
- macOS: 5.4.3 or higher
- Linux: 5.4.3 or higher
- Zoom mobile app
- Android: 5.4.3 or higher
- iOS: 5.4.3 or higher
How to hide participant profile pictures for all meetings and webinars
Note: This setting affects both meetings and webinars.
Account
To enable or disable Hide participant profile pictures in a meeting for all users in the account:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
- Click the Meeting tab.
- Under In Meeting (Basic), click the Hide participant profile pictures in a meeting toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
- (Optional) To prevent all users in the account from changing this setting, click the lock icon , and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
Group
To enable or disable Hide participant profile pictures in a meeting for a group of users:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit groups.
- In the navigation menu, click User Management then Group Management.
- Click the applicable group name from the list.
- Click the Meeting tab.
- Under In Meeting (Basic), click the Hide participant profile pictures in a meeting toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the account level and needs to be changed at that level. - (Optional) To prevent all users in the group from changing this setting, click the lock icon , and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
User
To enable or disable Hide participant profile pictures in a meeting for your own use:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Settings.
- Click the Meeting tab.
- Under In Meeting (Basic), click the Hide participant profile pictures in a meeting toggle to enable or disable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the group or account level. You need to contact your Zoom admin.
How to hide profile pictures during a meeting or webinar
Hide profile pictures while in a meeting
- Start a meeting as the host.
- Click Security .
- Click Hide Profile Pictures.
All profile pictures will be hidden.
