ProAV Divisible Space

A divisible space can be designed with a number of different configurations.  The most important aspect of integrating a Zoom Room into a divisible space is a seamless room status indicator. In this design, we use a partition sensor to dictate the routing of audio and video.

A partition sensor will be utilized to dictate the state of the room rather than a secondary touch control panel

The environment will be bidirectional Zoom Rooms for presenter and audience experiences.

On each side of the divisible wall, both rooms A and B will have the same experience. The audience-facing camera will be mounted above the the primary displays, while the presenter-facing camera will be mounted below the confidence monitors to replicate eye contact with the presenter from the far end. The wireless presenter microphones will be the primary audio for voice lift in the space and Zoom input audio. Any audience questions or comments will be captured by the two ceiling microphones on that side. Zoom audio from the far end and content share will be heard over eight ceiling mounted speakers per side.

When the divisible wall is opened, an IR partition sensor will be triggered by the wall dictating the state of the room. The Zoom Room computer and iPad for room A will now be distributed throughout the space. All four ceiling mics and four presenter mics will be fed to this Zoom Room. The output will go to all twelve speakers in the space. Video from this primary system will be replicated on the displays in the second room.

This general design principle can be applied to many use cases, including overflow areas with expanded display and speaker coverage, multipurpose expansion of spaces as well as multi-room environments with many divisible spaces. Room Controls

Contact a certified AV Integrator or the Zoom Global Services team to implement room controls in this design.

As this is a divisible space, the partition sensor will tell the Q-Sys control system what the ultimate desired experience is based on divided/combined state. The below sample file may be loaded to the room via the Zoom admin console. This profile will provide the Q-Sys controller information about what is happening on the Zoom Rooms through named controls, relaying useful information about the state of the room and further optimizing the experience. Q-Sys will relay these events into desired control experiences throughout the environment, such as display operation time or mic mute LED state. Devices and USB network interface on the Zoom Rooms must be configured with static IP addresses.

Note: Using room controls will require a fair amount of programming logic on the QSC Core, leveraging controls based on room state to control the correct microphones, displays, USB devices and decoders.
