Screen and Energy Saver With Zoom Rooms

 

About:

Zoom Rooms on Mac or PC has digital signage option and operation time settings. As such, Zoom Rooms should not be placed in Screen Saver or Sleep/Power Saver mode. 

Disable Screen Saver:

  • Open the Control Panel
  • Double-click on the display icon
  • Click the screen saver tab
  • Select (None) as the screen saver choice.

Disable Energy Saver Mode:

  1. Go to Windows Start button, and click ‘Control Panel
  2. Go to ‘System and Security’ then click ‘Power Options
  3. Click ‘Choose when to turn off the display
  4. Set ‘Turn off the display’ and ‘Put the Computer to sleep’ to ‘Never
  5. Click ‘Save Changes
  1. Open Power Options by clicking the Windows Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.

  2. On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings next to the selected plan.

  3. On the Change settings for the plan page, click Change advanced power settings.

  4. On the Advanced settings tab, double-click Sleep, double-click Sleep after, and then do one of the following:

    • Click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.

  5. Double-click Hibernate after, and then do one of the following:

    • Click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.

  6. If you also want the display to stay turned on, double-click Display, double-click Turn off display after, and then do one of the following:

    • Click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.

  7. Click OK, and then click Save changes.

  • Go to Windows Start Menu, and choose ‘Settings
  • Choose ‘System’ and then ‘Power & sleep
  • Select ‘Never’ under both options for both Screen and Sleep.

Scheduled Restart:

  1. Go to Windows Start Menu, and type taskschd.msc is start search and hit Enter to open the Task Scheduler.
  2. In the right panel, click on Create Basic Task.
  3. Give it name and a description if you wish and click Next.
  4. When asked When do you want the task to start, select Weekly. Click Next.
  5. Select the Start date and time. (i.e. Sunday between 2:00-4:00)
  6. Clicking Next will bring you to the Action page. Here select Start a program and click on Next.
  7. Here type "shutdown" under "Program/Script:" then add shutdown/r or shutdown /g in the Add arguments box. If you want the shutdown to commence after say 60 sec, type 60 instead of 0 here.


  8. Click Next to review all and finally click Finish. Your computer will shutdown at the designated day and time.

Disable Screen Saver:

  • Click on the Apple menu on the top left of screen and select System Preferences
  • Then click on the Desktop & Screen Saver panel and select the Screen Saver tab
  • Select No Screen Saver

Disable Energy Saver Mode:

  • Go to Spotlight Search on the top right corner of your desktop
  • Find "Energy Saver"
  • Set your computer and display sleep modes to Never 
  • Make sure Power Nap is not selected 

Scheduled Restart:

We also recommend that you schedule a periodic (bi-weekly, monthly) restart of the Mac Mini (say at 300am).

  • Go to System Preferences > Energy Saver 
  • Click on Schedule on the bottom right
  • Select Restart > Weekly > Time
