Connect a Zoom Room with the desktop app
The Zoom desktop app can connect with your Zoom Room, which allows you to start or join a meeting in the Zoom Room and perform other actions.
You can also connect the Zoom mobile app with a nearby Zoom Room.

Requirements for connecting to a Zoom Room with the desktop app
- Account owner or admin privileges to edit account settings
- Zoom desktop app:
- Windows 6.7.0 or higher
- macOS 6.7.0 or higher

How to enable connecting to a Zoom Room on the account
To enable connecting to a Zoom Room on the desktop app for all users in the account:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
- Click the General tab.
- Under Other, click the Show “Zoom Room” feature in the Zoom Workplace app toggle to enable it.
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable to verify the change.
How to enable connecting to a Zoom Room on the Zoom desktop app
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
- Click your profile picture, then click Settings.
- In the navigation menu, click the General tab
. - Under Zoom Rooms, toggle on
Show “Zoom Room” icon in the app.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been disabled by the account admin.
How to connect with a Zoom Room
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
- In the top-right corner, click the
Room icon. - Choose from among the following options (you may need to click
More options to see them all):
- Start from Room - Start a scheduled meeting from the room.
- Join from Room - Join a scheduled meeting from the room.
- New meeting - Start an instant meeting from the room.
- Share screen - Share your screen to the room.
- Connect to room - Connect your device to the Zoom Room for chat and content viewing.
- Record with AI companion - Start recording with AI Companion to transcribe and summarize your conversation in the room.
- Save room meeting assets - Claim and save meeting assets from the room.
- Open whiteboard - Open a new whiteboard in the room
- Open the whiteboard "name" - Open an existing whiteboard in the room.
- Launch Zoom App - Open a Zoom App in the room.
