Adding a status message to your chat profile


You can specify a status message that's visible to all your contacts and appears in your profile card and at the top of the chat compose box when someone sends you a message on Team Chat. You can change this text as often as you'd like and set how long it should be displayed. Use your status message to provide a personal note, time zone or location information, or include more detailed information about your status.

Your status message syncs across all your signed in clients and apps. In other words, changing your status message on the mobile app will apply it to the desktop client.

How to update your status message on Team Chat

Add or update a status message

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner, then click Set Status Message or your current status message.
  3. Enter the text that you want to display as your status message to your contacts.
  4. In the Clear After drop-down menu, choose a time frame for how long you want the status message to display on your profile. You can choose from 1 hour, 4 hours, Today, This Week, Never, or Set date and time to specify a custom time frame. 
  5. Click Save.
    Your status message will display immediately to all chat users who can view your profile. You can change or delete this text as often as you'd like.

Delete a status message

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner, then click your current status message.
  3. Click Clear Status Message.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. In the lower-left corner, tap More .
  3. Tap your profile details at the top of the list.
  4. Tap Set Status Message (Android) or Status Message (iOS).
  5. Enter the text that you want to display as your status message to your contacts.
  6. In the Clear After drop-down menu, choose a time frame for how long you want the status message to display on your profile, then click Confirm. You can choose from 1 hour, 4 hours, Today, This Week, Never, or Set date and time to specify a custom time frame. 
  7. In the top-right corner, tap Save.
    Your status message will display immediately to all chat users who can view your profile. You can change or delete this text as often as you'd like.

Delete a status message

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. In the lower-left corner, tap More .
  3. Tap your profile details at the top of the list.
  4. Tap Status Message.
  5. To the right of the text, tap the delete icon .
  6. In the top-right corner, tap Save.
