Using the Evernote App
Evernote is note-taking software that helps users capture and organize ideas, projects and to-do lists. This app allows users to connect their Evernote account to Zoom Team Chat, allowing them to share, create, and clip notes without having to switch back and forth between applications.
Available features include the ability to:
- Create notes
- Clip messages or threads to save it to Evernote
- Search and share notes
Prerequisites for using the Evernote App
- A Zoom account
- Zoom desktop client
- Windows: version 5.12.6 or higher
- macOS: version 5.12.6 or higher
How to install from the Zoom App Marketplace
The Evernote App is included with the Zoom desktop client and is displayed in your Zoom Apps list.
To install the app manually:
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.
- Search for Evernote.
- Click Add.
- Review the requested permissions and click Authorize.
Once installed, the app is displayed under the Apps section of the Zoom desktop client.
How to use the Evernote App
Connect to your Evernote account
- Sign in to the desktop client.
- Click the Team Chat tab .
- At the bottom of the left chat panel, find the Apps section.
- Select Evernote.
You will see a welcome message from the App. - Click Connect.
- Follow the on-screen prompt to sign in to your Evernote account.
Create a clip from a Team Chat message
Any chat messages or thread can be saved into Evernote for future reference.
- Sign in to the desktop client.
- Click the Team Chat tab .
- Find the message or thread to save to Evernote.
- Hover your cursor over the message or thread.
Additional options will appear. - Click the more icon .
- Click Clip.
The selected message or thread will be saved to Evernote.
Slash commands for the Evernote App
Once installed, the Evernote app can be used from any Team Chat channel. The following slash commands are available in any 1:1, group chat, or chat channel:

Enter /evernote connect to connect your Evernote account.

Enter /evernote help to receive a list of all available commands.

/evernote create
Enter /evernote create to create a note in Team Chat and have it automatically sync over to your Evernote account.

Enter /evernote recents to view a list of all recently edited notes.

Enter /evernote search to find notes and share them in Team Chat messages.

/evernote disconnect
Enter /evernote disconnect to disconnect your Evernote account.
How to uninstall from the App Marketplace
- Log in to the App Marketplace web portal.
- Click Manage and then click AddedApps.
- Next to the Evernote, click Remove.
Data Security
- This app has access to the following information on Zoom:
- View all information of a Zoom user under the Zoom account
- View all groups subscribed to by a Zoom user under the Zoom account.
- This app has the following permissions on Zoom:
- This chat app can send a chat message to an IM channel or Zoom user under the Zoom account.
- This chat app can retrieve chat message info from a IM channel or chat
- This app has access to the following information on Evernote:
- Refer to Evernote API reference article
- Data accessed by the app: All info and metadata contained in Notes, Notebooks, and Tags.
- Data stored in a database: Evernote access token and user id.
- Data presented to the user: Note titles, link to notes, Notebook names, tag names.
- Communications between this chat app and Zoom/Evernote are encrypted:
- Protocol: TLS 1.2 enforced
- Use OAuth1.0 to authorize
- This chat app stores access credentials in the local data store:
- Evernote Tokens (admin-level and user-level) and Zoom OAuth credentials (admin-level and user-level) are stored in an encrypted database.
