Changing cloud recording chat / transcript visibility
As an account owner or administrator, you can control if users see chat history and transcription in shared cloud recordings. You can change this setting at the account, group, or user level.
Note: This setting is only applicable to newly created recordings.

How to enable or disable chat history for cloud recordings
Account
To enable or disable cloud recording chat history visibility for all users in the account:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
- Click the Recording & Transcript tab.
- Under Recording, click the Viewers can see the chat toggle to turn the feature on or off .
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to confirm the change.
- (Optional) If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account, click the lock icon , and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
Group
To enable or disable cloud recording chat history visibility for a group of users:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit groups.
- In the navigation menu, click User Management, then Groups.
Note: If you only see Group Management, this means your account was created before August 21, 2021. Learn more about the New Admin Experience. - Select a group name.
- Click the Recording & Transcript tab.
- Under Recording, click the Viewers can see the chat toggle to turn the feature on or off .
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to confirm the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the account level and needs to be changed at that level. - (Optional) If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in the group, click the lock icon , and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
User
To enable or disable cloud recording chat history visibility for your own use:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Settings.
- Click the Recording tab.
- Under Recording, click the Viewers can see the chat to turn the feature on or off .
- If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the group or account level. You need to contact your Zoom admin.
How to enable audio transcript for cloud recordings
Account
To enable or disable cloud recording audio transcript visibility for all users in the account:

- Click the Recording & Transcript tab.

Group
To enable or disable cloud recording audio transcript visibility for a group of users:
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit groups.
- In the navigation menu, click User Management, then Groups.

- Click the Recording & Transcript tab.
- Under Recording, click the Viewers can see the transcript toggle to turn the feature on or off .

Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the group or account level. You need to contact your Zoom admin.
