Starting recordings without the host

You can allow your participants to start a recording even before the host joins. This feature is particularly useful when there isn't a designated host available to manage a recording, or if the original host needs to take a rain check and assigns another participant to handle the recording in their absence.

How to start computer recordings without the host

As a host, you’re the only one who can start computer recordings by default. To allow another participant to record, you must do one of the following:

Note: If another user has scheduling privilege for you, they’ll automatically join as an alternative host and can start the recording.

How to start cloud recordings without the host

Note: Make sure cloud recording is enabled on your account before following these steps:

  1. Enable automatic cloud recording for the meeting.
  2. Allow participants to join before the host.
  3. Schedule a meeting with the Allow participants to join checkbox selected.
    When a participant joins the meeting, the recording will start automatically even without the host. After the meeting ends, the recording will become available in the host’s recordings page.
