Using Jira with Zoom
Zoom’s Jira app allows you to create and manage Jira issues in Zoom and receive notifications to help you stay on top of important issues from your Jira account.

Prerequisites for using the Jira app with Zoom Team Chat
- Free or paid Zoom account
- A Jira admin account to install and uninstall
- Pre-approval of the Jira app in the Zoom Marketplace
Note: If the app is not pre-approved, please contact your Zoom admin.
How to install the Jira integration from the Zoom Marketplace
If your admin has installed the Jira app, the app will automatically be installed and available to you in the client.
- As an account owner or admin, sign in to your Zoom account from the Zoom Marketplace.
- Search for Jira and click the app.
- If the app is not pre-approved, contact your Zoom admin to approve this app for your account.
- Click Add, confirm the permissions the app requires, and choose Allow.
After installing the app from the Marketplace, you will be redirected to the Connect to Jira page. - Configure the Application Link.
- Enter your company’s Jira domain, then click Connect.
You will be redirected to Jira to confirm the connection.
Once complete, you and your users will be able to configure their own notifications/subscriptions.
How to configure the Jira app in Zoom Team Chat
Complete the following steps for each channel that you would like to receive Jira notifications in.
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click the Team Chat tab .
- In a desired group chat, enter /jira configure.
- Click Please click here to configure.
You will be directed to the Jira configuration page - Choose the desired project, filter, and which notifications you would like to receive.
- Click Save.
You will receive notifications in that Team Chat channel, based on your configurations.
How to use the Jira app
Compose Shortcuts
Use the compose shortcut to share an issue with the channel.
- Select the Jira icon from your compose box.
- Select Share issue.
- Search by issue key or keyword.
- Select an issue.
A preview card of the issue will appear in the compose box. - (Optional) Add a message to send with the Jira card.

Press the Enter key or click the send icon .
Your message will appear with an app card showing information about the Jira issue you shared.
Use the compose shortcut to create an issue.
- Click the Jira icon from your compose box.
- Click Create issue.
- Click the project and issue type you wish to create.
- Complete the required fields.
- Click Create.
The Jira app will respond with a message only visible to you to confirm the issue was created in Jira. The app card will include information about the issue and allow you to watch, transition, comment, or assign the issue.
Message Shortcuts
Use a message shortcut to add a chat message to an existing issue.
- Hover your cursor next to a message.
Additional options will appear to the right of the message.

Click the more icon .
- Click Add to issue
- Search by issue key or keyword.
- Select an issue.
The message will appear in the message box and can be modified before adding to the Jira. - Click Add to issue.
Your message will appear in Jira as a comment to the issue you selected.
The Jira app will respond with a message only visible to you to confirm a comment was added to the issue in Jira. The app card will include information about the issue and allow you to watch, transition, comment, or assign the issue.
Use a message shortcut to create an issue from the chat message.
- Hover your cursor next to a message.
Additional options will appear to the right of the message.

Click the more icon .
- Select Create issue.
- Select the project and issue type you wish to create.
The message content will pre-populate in the description field. - Complete the required fields.
- Click Create.
The Jira app will respond with a message only visible to you to confirm the issue was created in Jira. The app card will include information about the issue and allow you to watch, transition, comment, or assign the issue.
Notifications
You will receive chat notifications when the Jira subscription is triggered. These notifications are mapped to the selected Zoom channel configured for the subscription.
Slash Commands
You can also try interacting with the app in a 1:1 chat. Type help to receive a list of possible commands.
How to uninstall the Jira app
- As an account owner or admin, sign in to your Zoom account from the Zoom Marketplace.
- In the top-right corner, click Manage.
- In the navigation menu, click Added Apps.
- Locate the Jira App app from the list, and click Remove.
- Confirm the dialog and click Remove.
Permissions granted for the Jira app
This app has access to the following information on Zoom:
- Zoom user info including meetings
This app has access to the following information on Jira:
- Jira issue info: Project Name, Project Key, Status, Issue Type, Priority, Reporter, AccountId, DisplayName, Description, Assignee
- Jira configure info: System Webhooks, Product Application links
This app has the following permissions on Zoom:
- Send a chat message to a channel or group chat.
Communications between this chat app and Jira are encrypted:
- Protocol: TLS 1.2 enforced
- Use OAuth1.0 to authorize
This chat app stores the following information in an encrypted database:
- Zoom OAuth credentials
- Jira issue info: Project Name, Project Key, Status, Issue Type, Priority, Reporter, AccountId, DisplayName, Description, Assignee
Jira app information deleted when uninstalled from Marketplace:
- Jira issue info: Project Name, Project Key, Status, Issue Type, Priority, Reporter, AccountId, DisplayName, Description, Assignee
- Zoom authorization information: Access token
- App configuration information: Jira configuration, Project Key, Priority, Webhook URL
