Zoom Rooms camera controls

Zoom Rooms allows you to control your local HD camera during a meeting with the Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) functionality. The Zoom Rooms controller also supports far end camera control and camera presets. If more than two cameras are available in the Zoom Room, you can dynamically choose which one is active by selecting it from a list when you tap Switch Camera on the Zoom Rooms controller. If only two cameras are available, the Switch Camera control toggles between them. Aside from these basic controls, Zoom Rooms also supports several different camera modes, depending on the available hardware.

Prerequisites for Zoom Rooms camera controls

iOS

Controlling a local camera

If your Zoom Room uses a PTZ Camera with UVC controls, you can use your iPad controller to move the camera to a different position.

To control the camera in your Zoom Room:

  1. Start or join a meeting.
  2. Tap the Camera Control icon.
  3. Use the icons on the Camera Control popup to zoom and pan until the camera is in the position you need.
  4. Tap Done to return to the meeting controls.

Note:

  • If you do not want to use the mirror effect for your own video display (where the display of your own Zoom Room looks like a mirror), you can disable this setting by clicking the toggle
  • If you are using a PanaCast v3 or Huddly IQ, you can use the Intelligent Zoom (or Auto-Framing) feature for that camera. Tap the Camera Control icon, and then enable the Intelligent Zoom option by clicking the toggle . The camera automatically adjusts to show the optimal view based on the location of people in the room.

Controlling a remote camera

You can remotely control the camera of another participant or another Zoom Room if you are using an iPad controller version 4.0 or later. To remotely control another camera:

  1. Start or join a meeting.
  2. Tap the Manage Participants icon to display the list of meeting participants.
  3. Tap the name of the participant whose camera you want to control, then choose Request Camera Control.
  4. The participant receives a message, asking for approval. After the participant approves the request, you see a message letting you know that you can control the camera.
  5. Tap Now to display the camera controls for the remote participant.
  6. Use the icons to zoom and pan until the camera is in the correct position.
  7. Tap Give up Camera Control to return to the Manage Participants popup.
  8. Tap Done on the Participants popup to return to the meeting controls.
