Assigning client codes to phone calls


Account owners and admins can assign client codes to calls in the call log. This makes it easier for service organizations to bill customers based on the duration of a call. For an accounting firm that bills per hour for consultations, the firm can assign a client code to a specific call to make it easier to identify the call when billing the client.

How to view client codes using logs (admin)

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Phone System Management then Logs.
  3. Click the Calls tab.
  4. In the right column, click the settings icon , then select Client Code.
  5. Click Confirm.
    The Client Code will appear as a column.

How to assign a client code using logs (admin)

After a call is finished, you can use the call log to assign a client code to the call.

Note: After assigning a client code, the code can be viewed by the associated phone user of the call.

Assign a client code in the Client Code column

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Phone System Management then Logs.
  3. Click the Calls tab.
  4. To the right of a call log you want to manage, hover your mouse under the Client Code column, then click Add.
  5. Enter a 3 to 16-digit number, then click Save.
  6. (Optional) To the right of a call log with a client code you want to manage, hover your mouse under the Client Code column, then click Edit to change the client code, then click Save.

Assign a client code in the call path

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Phone System Management then Logs.
  3. Click the Calls tab.
  4. To the right of a call log you want to manage, click Call Path.
    A panel will appear.
  5. In the panel, to the right of Call Path, click Add.
  6. Enter a 3 to 16-digit number, then click Save.
  7. (Optional) In the panel, hover your mouse over the existing client code, then click Edit to change the client code, then click Save.

How to assign a client code using call history (phone user)

Note: After assigning a client code, the code can be viewed or edited in the call log by Zoom Phone admins.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Phone.
  3. Click the History tab.
  4. To the right of a call log you want to manage, hover your mouse under the Client Code column, then click Add.
  5. Enter a 3 to 16-digit number.
  6. Click Save.
  7. (Optional) To the right of a call log with a client code you want to manage, hover your mouse under the Client Code column, then click Edit to change the client code, then click Save.
    You can also click Delete to delete it.

How to assign a client code when placing a call (phone user)

Note: After assigning a client code, the code can be viewed and edited in the call logs by Zoom Phone admins.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
  2. Click the Phone tab.
  3. On the keypad, dial the client code, followed by an asterisk *, then the phone number.
    For example, if your client code is 6767 and you want to dial 650 555 1234, you would dial 6767*6505551234.
