Using the Node server local TUI


With Zoom Node, while services and modules can be managed from the web, admins can also use the Node server’s textual user interface (TUI) to manage and troubleshoot their Zoom Node server. All options available in the TUI are also available in the Local Admin GUI, including additional management and diagnostic options.

Prerequisites for using the Node server TUI

How to access the Node TUI

  1. Connect to the server via the server’s hostname or internal IP address.
  2. Log in using the username zoom-setup and the password configured when the server was deployed
  3. The main menu will be displayed.

How to update the network interfaces using the Node TUI

Adding a new IP address for a network interface

  1. In the main menu, press 1 to open the Configure Network menu.
  2. Press 1 to add a new IP address. 
  3. Press the Enter key to modify the suggested interface, or type the name of the desired network interface and press Enter to modify it.
  4. Type the IP address (in CDIR format), and press Enter.
  5. Type YES to confirm you want to add the address.
  6. Press Enter.

Removing an IP address for a network interface

  1. In the main menu, press 1 to open the Configure Network menu.
  2. Press 2 to remove an IP address. 
  3. Press the Enter key to modify the suggested interface, or type the name of the desired network interface and press Enter to modify it.
  4. Type the IP address (in CDIR format), and press Enter.
  5. Type YES to confirm you want to remove the address.
  6. Press Enter.

Updating the DNS and gateway for a network interface

  1. In the main menu, press 1 to open the Configure Network menu.
  2. Press 3 to update the DNS and gateway.
  3. Press Enter to select the primary network interface.
  4. Type the gateway address and press Enter.
  5. For DNS1, enter the primary DNS address and press Enter.
  6. For DNS2, enter the secondary DNS address and press Enter.
  7. (Optional) For DNS3, enter a third DNS address and press Enter.
    Note: If you don't have an additional DNS IP address, press Enter  to skip adding additional
  8. Press the Enter key to modify the suggested interface, or type the name of the desired network interface and press Enter to modify it.
  9. Type the IP address (in CDIR format), and press Enter.
  10. Type YES to confirm the gateway and DNS changes Enter.

Managing the route table for a network interface

Add a routing table

  1. In the main menu, press 1 to open the Configure Network menu.
  2. Press 4 to manage the routing table. 
  3. Press 1 to add a routing table. 
  4. Press the Enter key to modify the suggested interface, or type the name of the desired network interface and press Enter to modify it.
  5. Type the destination IP address (in CDIR format), and press Enter.
  6. Type the gateway IP address (in CDIR format), and press Enter.
  7. Type YES to confirm and press Enter.

Delete a routing table

  1. In the main menu, press 1 to open the Configure Network menu.
  2. Press 4 to manage the routing table. 
  3. Press 2 to remove a routing table. 
  4. Type the number (No.) of the routing table and press Enter
  5. Type YES to confirm and press Enter.

Managing a proxy server

Setting up a proxy server

  1. In the main menu, press 1 to open the Configure Network menu.
  2. Press 5 to manage the proxy server. 
  3. Press 1 to set the proxy server.
  4. Type the proxy server address and press Enter.
  5. Type the username for the proxy server and press Enter.
  6. Type the password for the proxy server and press Enter.
    Note: If a proxy username and password are not necessary, press Enter to skip the username and password. 
  7. Type YES to confirm and press Enter.
  8. Back in the Proxy Configuration menu, press 2 to test the connection to the proxy server.
  9. Once the test completes, press ESC to go back to the Proxy Configuration menu. 

Disabling a proxy server

  1. In the main menu, press 1 to open the Configure Network menu.
  2. Press 5 to manage the proxy server. 
  3. Press 3 to disable the proxy server.
  4. Type YES to confirm and press Enter.

Resetting DHCP

  1. In the main menu, press 1 to open the Configure Network menu.
  2. Press 6 to reset the DHCP.
  3. Type YES to confirm and press Enter.

Managing DNS records

Adding a DNS record

  1. In the main menu, press 1 to open the Configure Network menu.
  2. Press 7 to manage the DNS records.
  3. Press 1 to add a DNS record.
  4. Type the DNS address and press Enter.
  5. Type YES to confirm and press Enter.

Removing a DNS record

  1. In the main menu, press 1 to open the Configure Network menu.
  2. Press 7 to manage the DNS records.
  3. Press 2 to remove a DNS record.
  4. Type the DNS index and press Enter.
  5. Type YES to confirm and press Enter.

How to diagnose network issues using the Node TUI

In the main menu press 2 then Enter to open the network diagnostics menu. The following diagnostics tools are available:

How to register a Zoom Node server using the TUI

While it is recommended that registration is done from the Local Admin GUI during the deployment of the Node server, registration can also be done via the Node’s TUI. However, if the registration has been removed from a pre-existing server, the server can be registered by:

  1. In the main menu, press 3 to open the Register Zoom Node menu.
  2. Paste or type the registration code, then press Enter.
    The server will complete registration and link the server to your Zoom instance. 

How to reset the Node server using the TUI

  1. In the main menu, press 4 to open the Factory Reset menu.
  2. Type Yes to confirm and press Enter.
    The Node Agent will be uninstalled, and the server will be ready to be re-registered. 

How to reset the Node server's local password

  1. In the main menu, press 5 to open the Password Reset menu.
  2. Type Yes to confirm and press Enter.
  3. When prompted, enter the current password. 
  4. Type the new local password and press Enter.
  5. Retype the new local password and press Enter.

How to reboot the server using the TUI

  1. In the main menu, press 6 to open the Reboot Server menu.
  2. Type Yes to confirm and press Enter.
