Resolving insufficient access to data folders

Issue

Upon launching the Zoom app, the app does not have proper access to the data folder needed, which results in a few possible issues, including the inability to schedule meetings, start your PMI, view your profile, and more.

Environment

This issue affects the Zoom desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Cause

The app does not have the necessary permissions to your device’s Zoom data folder, meaning the app is unable to perform many basic functions.

Resolution

  • Uninstall and then reinstall
Reinstalling the Zoom desktop app will prompt your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux) for the correct permissions and resolve the app’s folder access issue.
  • Manually give the Zoom app access to files and folders.
This varies by OS, so consult your Operating System’s support documentation for more information on how this is done.
