Using global search

With global search, you can search across contacts, messages, chats and channels, meetings, SMS messages, mail, files, docs, and whiteboards from one unified experience. You can refine your search results for certain content types using sorting and filters.

How to search in the Zoom Workplace app

In the Zoom Workplace app, you can use the global search feature to find contacts, messages, chats and channels, meetings, SMS messages, mail, files, docs, whiteboards, and more.

Windows | macOS
  1. Sign in to the desktop app.
  2. In the app header, click Search .
    The global search window will open, showing your recent searches and frequently visited chats.
  3. Enter your query. 
    As you type, recent history and results will appear.
  4. (Optional) Click the following tabs to view results within the available content types:
    • Top results: This is the default tab and will display top results across all content types. Click a result to open it.
    • Messages: Search through messages. Hover over a message to view context, jump to that message, or copy a link to the message.
    • Chats and channels: Search for chat or channel titles and members in conversations.
    • Meetings: Search for titles of past meetings. Click a meeting to view the meeting details.
    • Contacts: Search for contact names. Click a contact name to message them directly.
    • Files: Search for available file names or content within the files. Hover over a file to download or share it.
    • Phone: Search for recent Zoom Phone calls.
    • SMS: Search through SMS messages from Zoom Phone. Hover over a message to view context or jump to that message.
    • Docs: Search for document titles and content. Hover over a document to open it, share it to a specific chat, or copy a link to it.
    • Mail: Search for email content. Click an email to open it.
    • Whiteboards: Search for whiteboard titles. Click a whiteboard to open it.
  5. (Optional) Refine your search results by using sorting and filters.
    Note: Sorting and filtering is only available on select content tabs.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. In the app header, tap the search icon .
  3. In the search bar, enter your query, then tap Search.
    As you type, recent history and results will appear.
  4. (Optional) Below the search bar, tap the following tabs to view results within the available content types:

    • Messages: Search through messages.
    • Chats and channels: Search for chat or channel titles and members in conversations.
