Using Zoom Canvas content generation and revision with AI
Users can leverage content generation and AI revision capabilities for Zoom Canvas to be more efficient and boost their productivity, enhancing the writing process. You can get a head start by using templates tailored to various needs. When brainstorming new topics, AI provides valuable insights and suggestions, helping you generate fresh ideas and incorporate unique perspectives. Additionally, AI can summarize your doc’s content, highlighting key points to provide clarity.

Requirements for using Zoom Canvas content generation and revision with AI
Note: AI features may not be available for select verticals and select regional customers.
How to initiate AI in Zoom Canvas
- Create or open a Zoom doc, then do one of the following actions:
- At the top of the document, in the toolbar, click the plus icon
, then click Open AI chat icon
. - In the body of your document, do one of the following:
- Click Ask AI.
- On an empty line, press the space key on your keyboard to start AI.
Note: If you are unable to start AI by pressing your space key, in the top-right corner of your page, click the more icon
, click Shortcut to AI, then click the toggle to enable the shortcut. - To the left of a line, click the Ask AI icon
.
- Highlight content in your document, then click the Ask AI icon
.
How to generate content using AI in Zoom Canvas
After initiating AI in Zoom Canvas, a dialog box will appear. Click Continue to see this message each time you use AI , or select Don’t ask me again to prevent the dialog box from appearing in the future after you have read the Generate content with AI dialog box.
Use AI to generate new content in Zoom Canvas
- Initiate AI in a blank Zoom doc.
- Do one of the following:
- In the text box, provide a prompt of what you’d like AI to help you write.
- Below the text box, select a suggestion from one of the categories and provide a prompt to help tailor the content.
- Click the send icon
. - (Optional) Click Stop while the content is being generated if you change your mind or want to enter a different instruction.
- Review the proposed content, then click one of the following:
- Improve the result box and enter your own instructions to improve the result, or select any of the following:
- Shorter: To shorten the proposed content.
- Longer: To lengthen the proposed content.
- More formal: To write the content in a formal tone.
- More casual: To write the content in a casual tone.
- (Optional) To the right of the Ask AI box, click the left or right arrow to navigate to the proposed content you want to keep.
- Click Keep to keep the proposed content.
- Click the Try again icon
to regenerate the proposed content. - Click the Discard icon
to delete the proposed content.
Use AI in existing content in Zoom Canvas
- Initiating AI in a Zoom doc with existing content.
- Do one of the following:
- In the Ask AI box, provide a prompt of what you’d like AI to help you do and click the send icon
. - Under Revise selection, select an out-of-the-box suggestion.
- Under Generate from selection
- Select Translate to, enter the desired language, and click the send icon
. - Select Convert to a list.
- Under Help me understand, select Explain or Summarize.
- Review the generated content, then click:

- Replace to replace the existing proposed content with the generated content.
- Insert to insert the generated content within the existing proposed content.
- The Try again icon
to regenerate the proposed content. - The Discard icon
to delete the proposed content.
Use AI to generate content from your Zoom meetings
If meeting summary is enabled on your account, you can use AI to generate meeting content in Zoom Canvas. Your admin must enable this feature. Learn more about enabling meeting summary.
- Initiate AI in a Zoom doc.
- Under Suggested, click Create from meeting, select an out-of-the-box suggestion, enter a prompt + @, or click the paperclip icon.
A list of your past meetings will be displayed. - (Optional) In the Meetings pop-up, click the calendar
or filter
icon to search for a specific meeting. - Select a meeting with the meeting summary you want to reference.
- Click the send icon
. - (Optional) Click Stop while the content is being generated if you change your mind or want to enter a different instruction to improve the result.
- Review the proposed content, then click one of the following:
- Improve the result box, enter your own instructions to improve the result, then select any of the following:
- Shorter: To shorten the proposed content.
- Longer: To lengthen the proposed content.
- More formal: To write the content in a formal tone.
- More casual: To write the content in a casual tone.
- (Optional) To the right of the Ask AI box, click the left or right arrow to navigate to the proposed content you want to keep.
