Upcoming changes to Zoom release notes
Starting August 30, 2024, we are enhancing how we publish release notes to simplify the structure and improve readability. Our goal is to provide you with a more efficient and user-friendly way to access information. Although we are making changes to release notes, Zoom customers will still have access to the same level of detail we’ve previously provided in release notes.
This article covers:
Detailed list of changes to release notes
Updating the format of release notes from bulleted lists to tables
We are implementing a table format for release notes. Previously, we used bulleted lists to describe changes to existing features, new and enhanced features, and resolved issues.
With the table format, you’ll be able to easily search and sort content within the tables to find what you’re looking for. Tables will include all the same information you’re accustomed to in release notes, including feature title, description, available platforms (if applicable), and if the feature is changing or if it’s a new or enhanced feature. Resolved issues for that release will have a separate table.
Merging Zoom Workplace app release notes into one page
Starting August 30, admins and end users can view the Zoom Workplace app release notes for all operating systems in one article: Release notes for the Zoom Workplace app. Previously, the Zoom Workplace desktop and mobile app release notes were split into different articles for each operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Android Intune, iOS Intune, and visionOS).
If you have previously subscribed to individual platform articles for the Zoom Workplace app, make sure to subscribe to Release notes for the Zoom Workplace app, as it will be the only Zoom Workplace app release notes article maintained, beginning August 30, 2024.
Merging Zoom Rooms release notes into one page
Similar to the changes we’re making to the Zoom Workplace app release notes, starting August 30, 2024, admins and end users can view Zoom Rooms release notes for all operating systems in one article: Release notes for Zoom Rooms. Previously, the Zoom Rooms release notes were split into different articles for each operating system (Windows, macOS, Appliances, iPad, iOS controller, Android controller, Windows attached controller, and web).
Note: Release notes for Zoom Phone Appliances will remain in a separate article.
If you have previously subscribed to individual platform articles for Zoom Rooms, make sure to subscribe to Release notes for Zoom Rooms, as it will be the only Zoom Rooms release notes article maintained, beginning August 30, 2024.
Deprecating release notes by date articles
We are discontinuing Zoom release notes by date articles and will only have Zoom release notes by product articles. The release by date articles included every product that had a release on that day. Now that we have introduced subscription functionality at the article level, you can subscribe directly to release notes for the Zoom products you use.
Although we will no longer publish release notes by date articles, release by product articles will still be available and organized chronologically by release date. Additionally, we are actively exploring new ways to enhance your experience in locating release information in the future.
Archiving release notes for versions older than the minimum version
With the Zoom Software Quarterly Lifecycle Policy, Zoom enforces a new minimum version every 3 months. Zoom makes an effort to support a given version of the app for at least 9 months before it falls below the minimum version. Due to this policy, we will archive release notes for versions older than the minimum version where applicable. For products that don’t have a minimum version, we will support approximately two years of historical release notes.
