Using the Airtable chat app
The Airtable app for Zoom Team Chat keeps teams aligned by delivering real-time updates from Airtable Bases directly into chat channels. Users can subscribe to changes in specific Bases and receive instant notifications, helping everyone stay informed and up to date, without switching platforms.
Requirements for using the Airtable chat app
- A Zoom account
- Zoom desktop app
- Windows: version 5.13.0 or higher
- macOS: version 5.13.0 or higher
- An Airtable account
How to install the Airtable app from the App Marketplace
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.
- Search for Airtable Chat.
- Click Add.
- Review the requested permissions and click Allow.
How to connect the Team Chat app to your Airtable account
- Sign in to the desktop app.
- Click the Team Chat tab
. - At the bottom of the left chat panel, find the Apps section.
- Select Airtable Chat.
- Enter the slash command /airtable connect.
- Click the link - Click here to connect your Airtable account in the reply, then the system browser will open Airtable's authorization page.
- Click Add a Base to select Airtable Base.
- Verify the permissions and click Grant access.
- This page will navigate to the confirmation page and display the email for the Airtable account that needs to be connected.
- Click the Confirm button to connect the Airtable account.
After these steps are completed, the user will be able to use the integration to Airtable.
How to subscribe to an Airtable Base
If you want to receive notifications from an Airtable Base, you need to subscribe to the Airtable Base before configuring airtable notification rules.
- In a compose box, enter command /airtable subscribe.
- You will be directed to the Subscribe a Base page.
- Select the Airtable base you want to subscribe to.
- Click Submit.
How to unsubscribe from an Airtable Base
If you don't want to receive notifications from an Airtable Base in Zoom Team Chat, you need to unsubscribe from the Airtable Base.
A user can unsubscribe from bases to which he has permission. If a user unsubscribes from a base, all notification rules that rely on that base will become invalid.
- In a compose box, enter command /airtable unsubscribe.
- You will be directed to the Unsubscribe a Base page.
- Select the Airtable base you want to unsubscribe from.
- Click Submit.
How to configure Airtable notifications
Complete the following steps for each channel that you would like to receive Airtable Record Created notifications.
- In a compose box, enter command /airtable configure.
- You will be directed to the Configure a Notification Rule page.
- Select the Airtable base, table, and field you want to receive notifications for.
- Click Submit.
- You will receive notifications in that Zoom Team Chat channel, based on your configurations.
How to view Airtable notification rules
- In a compose box, enter command /airtable rules.
- The Airtable chat app will reply with a message visible only to you. The message will list all the notification rules you configured in the current channel.
- In a compose box, enter command /airtable view name.
- The Airtable app will reply with a message visible only to you. The message content is the notification rule details of the specified rule name.
How to remove an Airtable notification rule
In a compose box, enter command /airtable remove name and the notification rule with the specified rule name is deleted.
How to disconnect the Team Chat App to your Airtable account
- Sign in to the desktop app.
- Click the Team Chat tab
. - At the bottom of the left chat panel, find the Apps section.
- Select Airtable Chat.
- Enter the slash command /airtable disconnect and the app will be disconnected from your Airtable account.
How to remove the Airtable app
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace with your Zoom account.
- In the top right of the page, click Manage.
- In the navigation menu, click Added Apps.
- Next to the Airtable Chat app, click Remove.
- Confirm the dialogue and click Remove.
Data Security
- This app has access to the following information on Zoom:
- View all groups subscribed to by a Zoom user under the Zoom account.
- View information of a Zoom user under the Zoom account.
- This app has access to the following information on Airtable:
- Subscribe Airtable base changes within Zoom Team Chat.
- Receive Airtable notifications within Zoom Team Chat.
- This app has the following permissions on Zoom:
- This app can send a chat message to an IM channel or Zoom user under the Zoom account.
